COSHOCTON – Customers were lined up the morning of June 7 and ready to enter the newly-remodeled ALDI after a brief ribbon cutting ceremony.

“There are certain things that I buy here that I don’t get anywhere else,” said Barb Mardis. “I like to buy my canned goods here and I like their seasonal items.”

The store, located at 811 S. Second St., was part of a $1.6 billion initiative to remodel and expand more than 1,300 ALDI stores nationwide by the end of 2020. Locally, ALDI is investing more than $34 million to update 21 stores in Columbus and the surrounded area by the end of 2020.

Gail Boyce liked the changes she saw.

“I think there are more things in there now,” she said. “I cook for older people and tend to get a lot of my stuff here.”

The new modern and convenient layout focuses on fresh food, produce, dairy and baked goods. All remodeled ALDI stores also feature open ceilings, natural lighting and environmentally-friendly building materials.

“At ALDI everything we do is about delivering high-quality food at affordable prices and that will never change,” said Corey Stucker, Hinckley division vice president for ALDI. “Now it will be even easier for customers to find the foods they want from us at a great price, whether it’s fresh produce, award-winning wines or our beloved ALDI Finds.

To celebrate the Coshocton store reopening, ALDI held a sweepstakes for the chance to win a year’s supply of ALDI produce and gave shoppers an eco-friendly bag.

ALDI, which has served the Coshocton community for 25 years, is open from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. Monday through Sunday.
