COSHOCTON – The gym of the Salvation Army was full as children ran from game to game and adults enjoyed watching them have fun. Plenty of hot dogs and popcorn were available for lunch and the bounce house was a huge hit. The Hopewell Industries carnival was definitely a success.

Tory Sines, Hopewell Industries employee, greeted everyone at the door. Each person received a meal ticket (good for a hot dog, fruit, chips and a drink) and children were given a raffle ticket to win a backpack full of school supplies – one for a boy and one for a girl. “All of the prizes for the games and the food were donated by local businesses and individuals. I am so thankful for everyone who donated to our carnival. The bounce house was donated by Bouncin’ Around.”

Carla Baumer found out about the carnival when she was dropping her son, Chad, off at Hopewell Industries and decided to bring her daughter, Cara Renner, and grandchildren. Renner said, “The kids were pretty excited about the bounce house and winning candy at the games.” Kensie Renner, 2, said she had to take her shoes off and she likes candy. Caden Renner, 3, said he won a whistle, candy and his favorite, a slinky.

Everyone was welcome to spin a wheel for a prize. Free ice cream cones, KFC, pizza buffets and free pizza were some of the possible prizes. Paul Lauvry indicated he was hoping to win an ice cream cone like his friend. Picking from the prize box that contained larger items was also an option at the wheel. Other games included ring toss, several bean bag toss games, and a bowling ball game. Each game offered a small prize to all players.

Jessica Schlabach, customer guide for Hopewell Industries, said she was excited to see so many people at the carnival. “This is an amazing experience for people in our community. We need the community to see how awesome our people are.”  About 10 people who attend Hopewell Industries worked the games. Both Sines and Schlabach complimented their hard work and dedication to doing their jobs well.

Wanda Eison brought her grandchildren, Janaih (3) and Michael (8) to the carnival.  “We just found out about it. The kids are having so much fun.” Janaih proudly showed off her prize bag with candy in it. Eison said, “They just love the bounce house.”
