Bluegrass Music: Three Rivers Bluegrass Music and Relay for Life Team Alana presents bluegrass music at Coshocton Village Inn and Suites, 115 N. Water St., on SR 541 beside McDonald’s, once a month. Admission is $7 per person; those 12 and under, no charge. Featured band is from 7 – 9:15 p.m. Acoustic jam is 9:30 – 10:30 p.m. For information, call 740-498-8456. The next event will be Dec. 28 and will feature a jam session.

Holiday Hours: The Pregnancy Distress Center, 819 Main Street, will be closed Friday, Dec. 27 and Tuesday, Dec. 31. The helpline will still be available at 740-622-3808.

 

Free Family Law Clinic: There will be a free family law clinic for Coshocton County throughout the year. This advice clinic is for low-income individuals. Sign in is at 1:45 p.m. the day of the clinic and is limited to 16 qualified individuals. It will be held at the Coshocton County Juvenile Court, 426 Main St., Coshocton. Childcare and additional seating is not available. Call 740-622-8969 with any questions. The next clinic will be Tuesday, Jan. 7, 2020.

 

Reversing Diabetes Seminar: There will be a Reversing Diabetes Seminar on Thursday, Jan. 9, 2020 at Kids America at 7 p.m. This is a lifestyle change program, and more than 80 percent of those who stick with the program no longer have the disease or have reduced their medication. Village Meetings: The West Lafayette Publics Works Committee will meet on Thursday, Jan. 9 at 7 p.m. The finance committee will meet Monday, Jan. 13 at 6:30 p.m. with the regular village council meeting at 7 p.m. Meetings will be held in council chambers.

 

Free Baby Clothes: The Pregnancy Distress Center offers free baby clothing and baby items to county residents. Open Tuesday nights from 6 – 8 p.m., Friday mornings from 10 a.m. – noon or by appointment if necessary. They are located at 819 Main St. Coshocton. For 24-hour help, call 740-622-3808.

Board Meeting: The River View Board of Education next meeting will be Thursday, Jan. 9, 2020 at 7:30 p.m.

 

Pop Tabs: River View High School Teen Leadership Corps class will be collecting pop tabs to then donate to the Ronald McDonald Foundation in April. You can send pop tabs to the school with students or drop them off at the high school, junior high or the elementary schools including Warsaw, Conesville, and Keene. All children three years old to 5th grade are welcome. Earn points toward special prizes as well. Adults meet from 6 to 7 p.m. for bible study.

Tiverton Trustee: The Tiverton Township Board of Trustees has moved its regular business meeting to Tuesday, Dec. 31 at 11 a.m. The 2020 reorganization meeting will be held immediately following the regular business meeting. The meeting will be held at the Tiverton Township Hall in Tiverton Center, SR 206 and CR 20 intersection. Public is welcome, handicapped accessible.

 

PERI Meeting: Coshocton County PERI will not meet Jan. 1, 2020 due to New Year’s Day, and the senior center will be closed. $5 dues may be paid in February.

 

Mental Health Support: Nami Coshocton County will host a family and friends support and education event featuring Coshocton Behavioral Health Choices to discuss their programs and facilities on Monday, Jan. 20, 2020 from 7 to 8:30 p.m. in the Grand Central Station room at the Coshocton County Regional Medical Center. Make It, Take It: Saturday, Dec. 21 from 1 to 2:30 p.m., youth in grades kindergarten through eighth are invited to the Coshocton Community Center to prepare a mosaic tile candle base along with gift box and a card. This is a free event. However, make a reservation on the Coshocton Community Center’s Facebook page or call Emmanuel Lutheran Church at 740-622-2550.

 

Breakfast Buffet: West Lafayette Lions will have a breakfast buffet on Saturday, Jan. 4, 2020 from 7:30 to 10 a.m. at the West Lafayette United Methodist Church. Cost is $8 for adults and $4 for children under 12. Children under two eat for free. The menu will include pancakes, sausage, French toast, scrambled eggs, orange juice, and coffee.

 

Distribution of Funds: The Community Service Distribution Committee of Coshocton Junior Woman’s Club will meet in March to plan for the distribution of funds raised this year. Any request for consideration should be sent to Junior Woman’s Club, PO Box 1011, Coshocton, OH, 43812, c/o/ Distribution. Include an amount and the reason for the request. Have your request postmarked no later than Feb. 22, 2020.

Freedom Road Recovery Meetings: Sundays 3:30 to 5 p.m. Meeting at Word Worship Center, 806 Orange Street. Enter through the double blue doors and come upstairs. This is a Christ-centered program for women.

 

CoshoctonOhioRocks: The Facebook group, #CoshoctonOhioRocks meets on Saturdays at the community center on Browns Lane from 1 – 2:30 p.m. for rock painting and posting rocks for people who do not have or use social media.

Blue Star Mothers: Blue Star Mothers meet the second Monday of each month at The Church of The Nazarene Adult Ministry Center from 6:30 – 8:30 p.m.

 

Canal Quilters: The Coshocton Canal Quilters meet on the first Tuesday of each month at the Roscoe United Methodist Church. Meetings begin at 6:30 p.m. New members are always welcome!

 

Breakfast Buffet: Army Navy has a breakfast buffet every third Saturday of the month. Veterans and first responders eat for free. Children 12 and under eat for free. Adults, $5.

 

Vietnam Veterans: The Vietnam Veterans meet the second Saturday of each month at the American Legion at 9 a.m. If you are a Vietnam Veteran who served during the Vietnam War, whether you served in country or not, you are welcome to attend.

Al-Anon: Coshocton Al-Anon Family Group meetings are at Central Christian Church located at the corner of 8th and Main Streets, Coshocton from 7 – 8 p.m. every Tuesday.

 

Volunteers Needed: The Newcomerstown Historical Society is seeking new members and volunteers to act as tour guides and to help out on other tasks at the Olde Main Street Museum and Temperance Tavern. All volunteers will train for the task you choose. Dance and Country Western Couples Classes: Second and fourth Wednesday of the month, beginning line dancing – 5:30 p.m.; couples class – 6:30 p.m. Cost is $5 each. Food for Fines, Coshocton Public Library, West Lafayette Branch Library, Dec. 2 – 30: During the month of December, the Coshocton Public Library and West Lafayette Branch Library will waive overdue fines on your library record when you bring a non-perishable food donation for people or pets. This offer only applies to overdue fines. It does not include lost or damaged items. Donations will go to the Salvation Army Food Pantry or Coshocton County Animal Shelter. Featured Art Exhibit, West Lafayette Branch Library, Dec. 2 – 30: Original artwork is featured monthly at the West Lafayette Branch Library by area artists. The featured artist for December is Halley Jones. Stop by the branch during regular business hours to view the exhibit.

 

Books Galore Book Store, Coshocton Public Library: Basement, Mondays, 3 – 6 p.m., Wednesdays, 10 a.m. – 1 p.m. (except Wednesday, Dec. 25), Saturdays, 10 a.m. – 1 p.m.: The Books Galore Book Store has gently used books, DVDs, videos, and magazines for sale at rock bottom prices. The bookstore is in the basement of the Coshocton Public Library and operated by the Friends of the Library. All proceeds benefit the Coshocton Public Library, West Lafayette Branch Library, and Bookmobile. It is open to the public for cash sales only. The elevator at the Coshocton Public Library is temporarily out of service, so please be aware that the bookstore can only be accessed by the stairs. We apologize for the inconvenience.

 

I Spy: Holiday Room, Coshocton Public Library: Small Meeting Room, Dec. 26, Dec. 27, and Dec. 28, Open during regular library hours: Love to play “I Spy?” The small meeting room at the back of the children’s room at the Coshocton Public Library has been decorated for the holidays. Use your powers of observation to find the items listed on your questionnaire: Ten candy canes, a furry stocking, a gingerbread man, and so much more. Whether you are a preschooler, school-age child, or teen, there will be an age-appropriate challenge for you. Reservations are not necessary. Just drop into the library for a holiday-spirited activity.

 

Coshocton Public Library System will be closed on Dec. 25, Dec. 31, and Jan. 1, Coshocton Public Library, West Lafayette Branch Library, Bookmobile: All locations of the Coshocton Public Library System will be closed in observance of the holiday season. For your convenience, return boxes are available outside of the library 24/7, and you can still access the Ohio Digital Library, online catalog, and online databases even when the library is closed.
