Local Events

Spaghetti Supper: Saturday, Nov. 9 from 4 to 7 p.m., the Three Rivers Fire Station, South Station, 714 Cedar St., Coshocton. Menu will include spaghetti, salad, bread, drink, and dessert. Cost is by donation. Money raised will go toward purchasing new dual band pagers.

 

Malone Choir Concert: On Sunday, Nov. 10, the Malone University Alumni and Friends Choir will be in concert at 6 p.m. in the Stewart Room of the Randall Campus Center (The Barn) on the MU campus at 2600 Cleveland Ave. NW, Canton. Members of the group include those that graduated in the mid 1960’s through the present. Darius McBride and Les Widder are co-directors. The public is cordially invited to this concert. Malone Choir Concert: On Saturday, Nov. 16, the MU Alumni and Friends Choir will be in concert at the Union Hill UMC, 7877 Union Hill Rd. NW, Sugarcreek (across from Dutch Valley Restaurant). Although the concerts are free, there will be a love offering taken to support the Malone University music scholarship program.

 

Pictures with Santa: The Coshocton County Humane Society will have Pet Pictures with Santa at Tractor Supply on Saturday, Nov. 16, Saturday, Nov. 30, and Sunday, Dec. 8 from 1 to 5 p.m. Two free wallet-sized photos with a donation of food or litter to the Coshocton County Humane Society. Other photo sizes available are one 5×7 for $10 or a three-inch pin back button for $5.

 

Band Concert: The Kent State University at Tuscarawas Band will present a concert, entitled, “Around the World in 80 Minutes,” at 7 p.m. on Tuesday, Nov. 19, in the Performing Arts Center. Auditorium doors will open at 6:30 p.m. The concert is free of charge and open to the public.

 

Bluegrass Music: Three Rivers Bluegrass Music and Relay for Life Team Alana presents bluegrass music at Coshocton Village Inn and Suites, 115 N. Water St., on SR 541 beside McDonald’s, once a month. Admission is $7 per person; those 12 and under, no charge. Featured band is from 7 – 9:15 p.m. Acoustic jam is 9:30 – 10:30 p.m. For information, call 740-498-8456. The next event will be Nov. 23 and the featured band will be Crab Grass Band.

Flu Shots: The Coshocton City Health Department, 400 Browns Lane, will have walk-in clinics for flu shots through the month of November on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays from 2 to 4 p.m. Insurances accepted: Medicare, Medicaid, Humana Medicare, Aetna Medicare, Medigold, The Health Plan (Medicare), Medical Mutual of Ohio, Molina, CareSource and Paramount. Toy Chest: Coshocton Co. Firefighters Toy Chest will be taking applications on Nov. 12 from noon to 3 p.m. at the Coshocton County Services Building, South 7th St., Coshocton, room 145 for low income families in Coshocton County needing help with Christmas toys this year ages newborn to 15 years old.

 

Election Meeting: The Coshocton County Board of Elections will have their next meeting on Monday, Nov. 18, at 8:30 a.m. and Wednesday, Nov. 20 at 8:30 a.m.

Shopping Spree Tickets: The Fatherhood Initiative has tickets available for a 90-second shopping spree at Buehler’s. Tickets are $5 and are available from any Coshocton County Fatherhood Initiative member. Drawing will be held Sunday, Nov. 24, and the shopping spree will be held that week. A limited number of tickets are available. Proceeds benefit father and family-friendly events in the community.

 

Board Meeting: Coshocton Metropolitan Housing Authority (CMHA) will have their next board meeting on Tuesday, Nov. 26 at 5:30 p.m. in the CMHA Learning Center, 823 Magnolia St., Coshocton. The purpose of this meeting is to discuss regular business.

 

Free Family Law Clinic: There will be a free family law clinic for Coshocton County throughout the year. This advice clinic is for low-income individuals. Sign in is at 1:45 p.m. the day of the clinic and is limited to 16 qualified individuals. It will be held at the Coshocton County Juvenile Court, 426 Main St., Coshocton. School Events

 

Free Computer Classes: The computer applications course will begin Nov. 7 at COTC and is open to the first 15 registrants. In 10 classes, participants will improve their skills in Word, Power Point, Excel, and MS Project. The classes will be from 3 to 5:30 p.m. at the Coshocton campus on Nov. 7, 12, 14, 19, 21, 26, and Dec. 3, 5, 10, and 12. Board Meeting: The River View Board of Education next meeting will be Thursday, Nov. 14 at 7:30 p.m. This meeting will be held in the administrative building.

 

Donut Sale: Coshocton Junior Class Krispy Kreme glazed donut fundraiser sale is through Nov. 15. Cost is $9 a dozen. Delivery date will be Tuesday, Nov. 26. Pop Tabs: River View High School Teen Leadership Corps class will be collecting pop tabs to then donate to the Ronald McDonald Foundation in April. You can send pop tabs to the school with students or drop them off at the high school, junior high or the elementary schools including Warsaw, Conesville, and Keene. Special Day of Celebration: The Victory Baptist Church, 355 Browns Lane, Coshocton, is having a special day of celebration on Saturday, Nov. 9 from 3 to 5 p.m. in producing one million copies of the books of John and Romans from the Bible which have been sent all over the world. Free hot dogs, chips, and beverages will be provided. There will also be a 65-foot blowup obstacle course inside for the kids, along with some special games for the adults. 100 Years Celebration: Coshocton Church of the Nazarene is celebrating 100 years with a celebration service on Friday, Nov. 22 at 7 p.m. There will also be a Thanksgiving dinner and celebration on Saturday, Nov. 23 at noon at Lake Park. Bring your own table service and a dish to share. There will also be a celebration service on Saturday at 7 p.m. at the church and a celebration service Sunday, Nov. 24 at 10:45 a.m.

 

Children’s Group: The Bible Explorers’ Children’s Group at the First Baptist Church West Lafayette is meeting at the church on Sunday nights from 5:30 to 7 p.m. Come join us for bible stories, games, food and a lot of fun. All children three years old to 5th grade are welcome. Earn points toward special prizes as well. Adults meet from 6 to 7 p.m. for bible study.

Bazaars

 

Fall Bazaar: The Killbuck United Methodist Church, 410 N. Main St., Killbuck, will have a fall bazaar on Saturday, Nov. 9 from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. The bazaar will feature canned soups, crafts, décor items, baked goods, food, and more.

 

Emmanuel Lutheran Church: Emmanuel Lutheran Church, 1500 Pleasant Valley Dr., will have their annual “Holiday Bazaar” on Saturday, Nov. 9 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Featured items will be our own homemade noodles, and our own angel food cakes. They have a lunchroom with soups, sandwiches and desserts. They also have a Pick-a-Cookie table where you can choose the cookies that you would like to purchase by the dozen. There will be baked goods, crafts, and a white elephant table.

Basketball Knockout Tournament: The Royal Butterflies Relay for Life Team will be hosting a basketball knockout tournament at the Nazarene Church in Coshocton on Saturday, Nov. 9 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Proceeds will benefit the Royal Butterflies Relay for Life Team’s efforts. There are two age brackets, 15 and under and 16 and over. Cost is $2 and the winner for each game gets half of the pot. Contact Mary Fergali at 740-294-1938.

 

Historical Club: The Coshocton Historical Club is hosting a light-hearted program on the “History of Walt Disney’s Mickey Mouse” on Monday, Nov. 11. A full-course meal will be served at Windsorwood Place on Brown’s Lane at noon. The cost is $11, and reservations are required. Please bring canned goods for the food pantry.

 

SWCD Meeting: The Coshocton Soil and Water Conservation District will meet Nov. 13 at 8 p.m. for a monthly board meeting. Meetings are held at the office, 724 S. Seventh St. Meetings are always held the second Wednesday of the month. Schedules are subject to change.

 

Book and Gift Sale: The Pink Ladies Auxiliary will have a book and gift sale in the grand central station at Coshocton Regional Medical Center on Thursday, Nov. 14 from 7:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.

 

Garden Club Meeting: Town and Country Garden Club will have their November meeting on Thursday, Nov. 14 at 7 p.m. at Roscoe United Methodist Church. The program will be “Cooking for a Gardener’s Thanksgiving” and speaker will be Jennifer Wilson. Guests welcome. Contact Ed Kiefer at 622-3993.

 

Make It, Take It: Saturday, Nov. 16 from 1 to 2:30 p.m., youth in grades kindergarten though eighth are invited to the Coshocton Community Center to create harvest-themed crayon shaving leaf prints and paintings. Chili Cook-Off: The Royal Butterflies Relay for Life Team will be hosting a chili cook-off and quarter auction at RHDD, 1517 Chestnut St., Coshocton, on Saturday, Dec. 14 from noon to 4 p.m. Proceeds will benefit the Royal Butterflies Relay for Life Team’s effort. Make It, Take It: Saturday, Dec. 21 from 1 to 2:30 p.m., youth in grades kindergarten through eighth are invited to the Coshocton Community Center to prepare a mosaic tile candle base along with gift box and a card. Raffle Tickets: The Royal Butterflies Relay for Life Team will be selling raffle tickets for the makings of a Thanksgiving dinner, Christmas dinner, and Easter dinner. CoshoctonOhioRocks: The Facebook group, #CoshoctonOhioRocks meets on Saturdays at the community center on Browns Lane from 1 – 2:30 p.m. for rock painting and posting rocks for people who do not have or use social media.

 

Nurse Christian Fellowship: The Nurses Christian Fellowship meets the fourth Monday at 6 p.m. at West Lafayette United Methodist Church. Breakfast Buffet: Army Navy has a breakfast buffet every third Saturday of the month. Veterans and first responders eat for free. Children 12 and under eat for free. Adults, $5.

 

Vietnam Veterans: The Vietnam Veterans meet the second Saturday of each month at the American Legion at 9 a.m. If you are a Vietnam Veteran who served during the Vietnam War, whether you served in country or not, you are welcome to attend.

Volunteers Needed: The Newcomerstown Historical Society is seeking new members and volunteers to act as tour guides and to help out on other tasks at the Olde Main Street Museum and Temperance Tavern. All volunteers will train for the task you choose. Featured Art Exhibit, West Lafayette Branch Library, Nov. 1-30: Original artwork is featured monthly at the West Lafayette Branch Library by area artists. The featured artist for November is Esther Marie Versch. Stop by the branch during regular business hours to view the exhibit.

 

Elevator Out of Service, Coshocton Public Library,  Nov. 1-30: The elevator is temporarily out of service at the Coshocton Public Library. Please be aware that the Books Galore Book Store and large meeting room in the basement can only be accessed by the stairs. We apologize for the inconvenience and thank you for your patience.

 

Books Galore Book Store, Coshocton Public Library: Basement, Mondays, 3 to 6 p.m.; Wednesdays, 10 a.m. to 1 p.m.; Saturdays, 10 a.m. to 1 p.m.: Gently used books, DVDs, videos, and magazines for sale at rock bottom prices. Plugged and Unplugged, Coshocton Public Library: Large Meeting Room, Wednesdays, Nov. 6, 13, 20; 2:30 to 5 p.m.: NO PLUGGED AND UNPLUGGED on Wednesday, Nov. 27: Games, snacks, friends, and fun! Teens, grades 7 through 12, are invited to gather at the library for video games, internet access, board games, crafting, or just to hangout. This free weekly event is partially sponsored by Friends of the Library. Registration is not required.

 

Lapsit, Coshocton Public Library: Large Meeting Room, Wednesdays, Nov. 6, 13, 20; 10 to 10:30 a.m.; Thursdays, Nov. 7, 14, 21; 10 to 10:30 a.m.; West Lafayette Branch Library, Tuesdays, Nov. 12, 19; 10 to 10:30 a.m.: For babies and toddlers, birth to three years, Lapsit is focused on early literacy and socialization skills through rhyme, rhythm, fingerplays, and music, all from the security of the lap of a parent or caregiver. We spend 20 minutes on a structured circletime, read the shortest of stories, and then enjoy parachute play, art projects, musical instruments, bubbles, or other fun activities. Registration is not required.

 

Letterland, Coshocton Public Library: Large Meeting Room, Wednesdays, Nov. 6, 13, 20; 11 to 11:30 a.m., West Lafayette Branch Library; Tuesdays, Nov. 12, 19; 11 to 11:30 a.m.: Join us each week for our Preschool Storytime as we travel to a place called Letterland. We will meet engaging letter characters, read theme-related stories and sing songs, learn rhymes, do arts and crafts, and many other fun activities. Preschool Storytime also helps children develop many social skills, such as self-regulation and peer interaction. This event is for children ages 3-6. Registration is not required.

 

Chi Class, Roscoe United Methodist Church: Gym, Thursdays, Nov. 7, 14; 10 to 11 a.m.: NO CHI CLASS on Nov. 21 or Nov. 28: Join the Coshocton Public Library at the Roscoe United Methodist Church Gym to practice gentle exercises that reduce stress and increase vitality. Chi Class is taught by Holli Rainwater, a Certified Tai Chi Easy Practice Leader. Registration is not required.

 

Public Technology Education, Coshocton Public Library, Mondays, Nov. 11, 18, 25, 2 to 4 p.m., by appointment: Individual assistance is available for those needing help with an app or software, or who want to learn more about digital services the library offers. Call the reference desk at 740-622-0956 to schedule an appointment with our digital technology educator. Sessions are 30 minutes. This service is for educational purposes only. We cannot repair, fix, troubleshoot, or diagnose malfunctioning devices or software.

 

Coffee Club, Presbyterian Church parlor, 142 N. 4th St., Coshocton, Monday, Nov. 11, 10 to 11:30 a.m.: Senior adults 55 and over are invited to join us for a hot cup of coffee and enlightening conversation. We explore a different topic each month: Armchair travel, history, biography, art, literature, popular culture, and more! The November topic is World Kindness Day. Join us for the fun and fellowship. Coffee Chat for Readers, West Lafayette Branch Library, Wednesday, Nov. 13, 9 to 10 a.m.: Adults are invited to the West Lafayette Branch Library for a Coffee Chat program held bi-monthly on the second Wednesday from 9 to 10 a.m. New and best-selling fiction and non-fiction titles will be featured with hot coffee and tea. This Reader’s Advisory program will help you decide what to read next. Andrea Smith, branch manager, will host this lively book talk. Friends of the Library Monthly Meeting, Coshocton Public Library: Large Meeting Room, Wednesday, Nov. 13, 12 to 1 p.m.: All members of the FOL are welcome to join us at the monthly meeting on the second Wednesday of each month at noon. We discuss bookstore business, volunteer opportunities, and the many ways we can help the library. We are always happy to have new members with fresh ideas! Registration is not required. Meetings take place in the large meeting room, located in the basement of the library.

 

Just for Fun Fall Book Club, Coshocton Public Library: Large Meeting Room, Thursday, Nov. 21, 4:30 to 5:30 p.m.: Kids aged 7 to 12 are invited to join us for a special autumn book club. Books are available to borrow from the library four weeks before each session. As a nod to the season, kids can choose from three great books in November: “A Journey to the New World” by Kathryn Lasky, “Mayflower Treasure Hunt” by Ron Roy, or “The Boy Who Fell Off the Mayflower” by Patrick Lynch. Holiday Open House, Coshocton Public Library, Friday, Nov. 22, 4 to 6 p.m.: Kick off the season with a holiday open house at the library. Enjoy refreshments, crafts, holiday music from “A Gathering of Dulcimers,” and a visit from Rudolph. Bring your camera and take pictures of the kids at the photo booth. Come and have fun with friends and family before the “Miracle on Main Street” Holiday Parade.

 

Coshocton Public Library System will close early at 5 p.m. on Wednesday, Nov. 27 and remain closed all day on Thursday, Nov. 28 in honor of Thanksgiving. For your convenience, return boxes are available outside of the library 24/7, plus you can still access the Ohio Digital Library, online catalog, and online databases even when the library is closed. The library will resume normal hours on Friday, Nov. 29.
