David LeeDeWittCOSHOCTON – David L. DeWitt, 55, died Sunday, March 5, 2017 at Coshocton Regional Medical Center. He was born March 21, 1961 in Coshocton, Ohio to the late Willis Eugene DeWitt and Evelyn Lucille (Duhamel) DeWitt.

He is survived by his wife Shelly (Turbeville) DeWitt, whom he married December 4, 2009, daughter, Jamie (Bobby) Crozier of Dresden, son, Ryan (Christa) DeWitt of Coshocton, stepson, Aron Poland of Coshocton, seven grandchildren: Laiken, Kylee, and Brandon Crozier, Sara, Kaden, Chase, and Camrin DeWitt; great-grandson, Braysen Crozier, and unborn great-granddaughter, Briella. He is also survived by brothers, Robert (Diane) DeWitt and Larry DeWitt, both of Coshocton, sisters, Darlene Oakes of Kosciusko, MS, Gayle Edie of Franklin, KY, Phyllis (Gary) Carnes of Dresden and Kelly DeWitt of Coshocton, several nieces and nephews and his best canine friends, Buck, Junior, and Hooch.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Willis DeWitt and Evelyn Lucille (Duhamel) DeWitt, brother, Gary DeWitt, niece, Shanna DeWitt, and nephew, Daniel DeWitt. Dave joined the United States Army at the age of 17 years and one week. He served with the 2nd Battalion 42nd Field Artillery Regiment as a Launcher Specialist in Germany.

Dave attended Coshocton High School and was proud to have received his GED while serving in the U.S. Military.

He worked in cabinetry, was a great backyard mechanic, and loved teaching his son Ryan the tricks of the trade. If it was broken, he could fix it. He was the dad he didn’t have to be to his daughter Jamie.

Calling hours will be held on Wednesday, March 8, 2017 at Given-Dawson-Paisley Funeral Home from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. A funeral service will be held on Wednesday at the funeral home following the calling hours at 12 p.m. with Pastor Stan Braxton officiating. Burial will follow at Coshocton County Memory Gardens.
