Deadline for Mary Harris Prizes approaching

COSHOCTON – Entry deadline for the Mary Harris Prizes is Nov. 1. Requirements for the non-fiction essay is that it has some connection, possibly tenuous, to the Coshocton Frontier, defined as 18th c. Coshocton County and be 1,000—3,000 words. The contest is open to persons of any age who reside or work in Coshocton County, including students whose permanent home is in the county. There is $2,500 in prize money allocated for the awards.

The Mary Harris Prizes is hosted by the Johnson-Humrickhouse Museum. Essays should be sent by USPS or by e-mail to the museum. Complete details about the competition are available at the Johnson-Humrickhouse Museum and on its website.

Award winners will be announced at the museum on Nov. 17 at the conclusion of Dr. Scott Butler’s presentation on the Brodhead Massacre.
