Earl J. Patterson

Earl J. Patterson, age 87, of Coshocton passed away on Thursday, November 22, 2018. Earl was born December 8, 1930 to the late John and Mary (Stonebrook) Patterson. After graduating from West Lafayette High School in 1948 he went on to earn his electrical degree from Coyne Electric in Chicago. Earl worked for Jones Electric Motor Service and as a construction electrician. He later retired from Cyclops after working 31 1/2 years. Earl joined the U.S. Navy serving on the USS Roosevelt and the Marsh Destroyer from June 1951 to June 1955. On February 4th 1958, he married the love of his life, Barbara J. Hoffman, who preceded him in death on May 31, 1993 and a son Patrick Earl, who passed December 31, 2017. Earl was also preceded in death by his brothers: John, William, Charles Larry and Keith Patterson; one sister Marjorie Lorenz. He is survived by three brothers: Max (Marilyn) Tom (Joan) of West Lafayette, and Chester (Margaret) of High Springs, FL, four sisters: Doris Mellor of Barberton, Ellen Pickrell, Patricia Blickensderfer, and Susan Patterson of West Lafayette. After his retirement he worked alongside his son on the farm. Earl enjoyed camping, fishing and playing cards. He hosted an annual Corn Roast and a HOBO pie event each at the river. Services were at the Addy Funeral Home on Monday, November 26, 2018 at 11 am with Pastor Chris Cutshall officiating. Visitation was at the Addy Funeral Home on Sunday, November 25, 2018 from 5 to 7 pm. Burial will be in the Plainfield Cemetery where military services will be conducted by the Newcomerstown Veterans Honor Guard.
