McVey001 (2)CONESVILLE- Lawrence Giffen McVey, 94, of TR 483C, died Monday Oct. 28, 2013 at his residence.

He was born March 8, 1919 in Walhonding to the late Joseph S. and Bernice (Giffen) McVey. He was a 1936 graduate of Warsaw High School, and a member of the Conesville United Methodist Church. He was a life-long farmer, and enjoyed watching baseball, especially the Cleveland Indians and Cincinnati Reds.

He is survived by his wife of 60 years, Kathryn (Lawrence) McVey, whom he married on Jan. 24, 1953.  Also surviving is a son, Kevin W. (Cynthia) McVey of Coshocton, a daughter, Ava M. (Don) Rawn of Chillicothe, four grandchildren; Travis L. McVey, Amie E. McVey, Abigail R. McVey, and Holden L. Rawn, six great-grandchildren; Faith-Ann McVey, Piper McVey, Drake Atwood, Lillian Wright, Naomi Wright, and Douglas Nippert, a great-great-grandson, Trusten Atwood, and several nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Leander J. McVey, and two sisters; Eleanor Rodehaver and Dorothy Lemmons.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Friday Nov. 1, 2013 at the Fischer Funeral Home in Warsaw with Rev. Joy Blaney officiating.  Burial will follow in New Castle Cemetery. www.fischerfuneralhome.com
