Leroy Matthews PictureLeroy “Sonny” Matthews, 76, of Coshocton passed away at Coshocton County Memorial Hospital on Wednesday April 29, 2015. Leroy was born in Coshocton, Ohio on December 30, 1938 to the late Roy and Annabelle (Wills) Matthews. He served in the United States Air Force and retired from Pretty Products after 36 years of service. He loved to go bowling, play golf, playing the guitar and enjoyed singing. Sonny was a member of the Coshocton County Veterans Honor Guard, AMVETS, VFW, Moose, Eagles and Army Navy. Leroy is survived by his daughters Anna (Dave Andrews) Cox, Linda (Tom) Whitis, Mary (Mike Markley) Dreher, Cathy (Dave) Tubbs, and Patty D’Ostroph all of Coshocton, Kim (Kenny) Bartel of Kent; a son Bart (Stacey) Matthews of Warsaw; sister Pauline Whilde of Coshocton; grandchildren Jimmy Cox, Kristy Cox, TJ Whitis, Mike Whitis, Brian Tubbs, Derick D’Ostroph, David Tubbs, Amanda Tubbs, Randy D’Ostroph and Clay Tubbs; thirteen great grandchildren and one on the way; several nieces and nephews. Along with his parents, he is preceded in death by his four brothers Ralph, Earl, Clarence and Donnie Matthews; sisters Mary Bradford and Hulara Moore. Friends may call at The Miller Funeral Home, 639 Main St., Coshocton on Monday May 4, 2015 from 11:00 AM -1:00 PM where funeral services will follow at 1:00 PM with Rev. Philip Hunt officiating. Interment will follow in South Lawn Cemetery where Coshocton County Veterans Honor Guard will perform military honors. Memorial contributions may be directed to Health Services of Coshocton County “Hospice”, envelopes will be available at the funeral home.
