Local Bounty has walking club

| June 21, 2016

COSHOCTON – If you’re interested in the walking club, the days are Tuesday mornings at 9 a.m. and Thursday evenings at 6:15 p.m. After each walk, you have a healthy snack and drink provided. If interested, call Local Bounty at 740-622-1400 or message us on Facebook.

Strawberry Hill Farm

Today we’re bringing romaine lettuce and a few quarts of strawberries to the store. The berries are some of the last we’ll have this season. We may have a couple of quarts later in the week, but the dry weather is taking a huge toll on the berries. There are still lots of small ones for Mary to make jam, so she will be busy doing that this week!

Flying Pig Farm

Fresh jam at the store this week! Try some carrot cake jam on your toast for a special treat. Old favs like blackberry, red raspberry and blueberry are here too.  We’ve also restocked our rice and soup mixes and our all natural bug spray. As the weather heats up, we want to keep our baked goods as fresh as possible. Please pre-order your favorite pies before Saturday at 1pm for pickup on the following Tuesday. We will also bake scones, bread, rolls, muffins, brownies, cookies, cinnamon rolls…all with non-GMO and fresh ingredients. Always made from scratch! Make your request in-store or at www.facebook.com/OhioFlyingPigFarm.

Bob’s Pickle Patch/ Verda’s Hens

What if my kale leaves have little holes in them?  Consider it a good sign that your kale has not been sprayed with pesticides.  Wash the kale, and have a nice salad.  As with all the greens that we bring to Local Bounty, we do not spray the kale.  If you are buying kale at a grocery store, you are getting perfectly beautiful leaves.  If they are not organic, chances are those beautiful leaves have been sprayed with a systemic pesticide, one that the plant drinks in, and you can’t wash off.  Not fair, right?  That’s one of the reasons to eat locally grown food.

We will be bringing eggs, kale, lettuce, and black bean brownies this week.

We appreciate your business.
