Local Bounty Update

| August 1, 2013

local bountyLocal Bounty Shoppers – Here’s a sneak peek at what you can find at LB this market week/weekend:

Carson House Farm – the Lozowskis

Jersey beef is back! Hope to have in store by opening this week. We still have a good selection of lamb. Veggies are rolling in, we should have some watermelon and cantaloupe available this week. Tomatoes are starting to come in also. Carson House Farm products are always naturally grown and raised.

Keene Creek Farm – the Mulletts

We are gearing up for planting our fall greens crop (seriously, where did summer go?!?!). We plan on filling our hoop house with salad greens, Brussels sprouts and spinach so you can enjoy them this fall. But for now, we still have a good bit of locally grown pork to choose from, although it is moving very quickly. We will have more marinated loin chops, hot dogs and smoked loin chops in the weeks to come. Our market shelves are stocked with our pizza dough, artisan bread, trail mix and dip mixes.

Rosemary’s Homemade Baked Goods

Rosey is back from vacation – her baked goods will be available again starting today.

Thousand Hill Acres, LLC – the Reeds

Our pork supply has been restocked at Local Bounty. The ever-so-popular bacon will be back in stock next Thursday.

Windy Hill Berry Farm & Vineyard – the Zelones

It has been so easy the past couple of weeks to come up with side dishes for dinner using the bounty from our garden & hoop house. One of our family’s favorites is pasta salad made with tomatoes, onions and cucumbers. We also like to sauté summer squash & zucchini in olive oil with onions and garlic, then toss in some halved cherry tomatoes right before serving. Feta cheese is also good in this. This week we will be bringing to Local Bounty cucumbers, tomatoes, green & gold zucchini, summer squash, free-range eggs, English muffins, blueberry-banana bread, and a fresh batch of apple butter. There’s nothing like apple butter on fresh homemade bread (available at Local Bounty) for a quick breakfast or bedtime snack. Enjoyable with some of Amy Troyer’s All Natural tea from Local Bounty.

Farm to Table Dinner

Looking for a special way to “wrap up” the end of summer? Let us wine you and dine you with local food and wine at our Farm to Table Dinner – on August 24 at 6:30 p.m. Local acclaimed chef Mike Cichon will prepare dinner at Clary Gardens that features locally grown foods. We will also serve Shawnee Springs wine and have musical entertainment provided by the Dotson Brothers. To reserve your seat for this fund-raising event (profits to be split between Local Bounty Coshocton and Clary Gardens) contact Chris Campbell at 622-6524.

Many thanks for your continued support of our year-round farmers market!
