Local Bounty Update

| February 5, 2015

Good Morning Shoppers,

It is a chilly one today, stock up on your comfort food.  Come see us today and tomorrow 10-6, Sat. 9-1.

Vendor Updates:

Mullet Apiaries

A recent study done by scientists at the University of Vermont and Harvard University examined the pathway from pollinators through to detailed survey data about people’s daily diets in parts of Zambia, Mozambique, Uganda and Bangladesh. (http://www.uvm.edu/giee/?Page=news&storyID=20022&category=gund ) They found that “pollinator declines can really matter to human health, with quite scary numbers for vitamin A deficiencies, for example,” says UVM scientist Taylor Ricketts. This study  included several pollinators, not just honeybees, but it does show how it is important to support your local beekeepers and those around the globe. Our customers are doing just that – our honey has been flying off the shelf!  We are restocked and ready for you to enjoy more delicious honey. As always, thank you for your patronage.

Flying Pig Farm
We’ve made Raspberry Truffles for your special Valentine. We mixed chocolate ganache with our own Red Raspberry Jam, then covered it with a hard chocolate shell. They are so good you should treat yourself too! We’re also bringing fresh Wheat, Garlic Herb and Cinnamon Raisin Bread and Sandwich Buns. Our rice and soup mixes and jam will be restocked as well. Thank you for shopping local!

Hillbippie

Focaccia and French Boule today!  Look for Full Wheat bread and more Focaccia tomorrow.  I also stocked Reset Button tea in tea bags!

Keene Creek Farm
Whether your Valentine likes sweet, salty, or both – we’ve got you covered. Our market stalls are stocked with Love Bug Monster Mix (the traditional monster mix featuring Valentine M&Ms), Bar Stool Pretzels…and…more Dark Chocolate Sea Salt Fudge (in the cooler). Our pork products are plentiful too. Ham loaf, beats, sausage, ham hocks, and bacon (starting to get low) are all in stock.  Marissa will be at LB Friday from 10-2 sampling her Salsa Verde Pork Roast. It’s so easy and appropriate to serve any season of the year.

Mill Creek Homestead

Brr…it’s cold outside!  Do you enjoy the cold and snow or are you counting down until spring?  (43 more days!)  When the going gets cold, this girl retreats to her Soap Room, which is good because I had a lot of catching up to do after the Christmas season.  This week, I was able to make foaming hand soap, so the pumps and refills are back on the shelf.  If you’ve never tried it  before, you’re in for a real treat.  It’s made with organic coconut, olive, and jojoba oils giving a soft, luxurious foam, but has great cleansing power and with lavender and tea tree essential oils, it is antibacterial as well.

Salad Bar Farms

Live lettuce, non-GMO, green and delicious!

Windy Hill Berry Farm

This week, and next, we’ll have chocolate covered gummy bears and conversation hearts in cute little packages for Valentine’s Day, Feb. 14th, just one week from this Saturday. It’s an inexpensive way to let someone know you care about them…by giving them something homemade. Stop into Local Bounty today and see all the other homemade goodies available. And once again, thanks for your continued support.

Thank you!
