Local Bounty update

| April 9, 2015

Boy did we get a rain last night! If April showers bring may flowers, there better be a boat load of flowers come may 🙂 Stop in out of the rain today and see what we have in store for you! Today and tomorrow 10-6, Sat. 9-1.

Flying Pig Farm

Our ladies laid 8 eggs yesterday…not bad for 9 chickens! Did you know our free-range fresh eggs are used in our baked goods? Only the best for our customers. 🙂 This week we have Blueberry Scones in addition to our breads, buns and croutons. Warm them and spread with butter from Wholesome Valley or one of our jams or jellies. Breakfast goodness! Have a great weekend everyone.

Hillbippie

Sorry folks, no bread this week from me.  I’ll be in sunny FL!  You can pick up one of my teas or cute mugs though. As a budding potter, it is hard to part with my pieces, but I’m sure they will find a nice home! Thanks as always 🙂

Humble Bee Bakery

Greetings friends! Big thank you for your continued support. I had a very successful 1st month and couldn’t be more grateful.

At my booth this week you’ll find the following items available for purchase:

Orange You Glad Cupcakes~ Vanilla cake and buttercream flavored with fresh squeezed orange juice & orange zest. Decorated with orange sugar crystals. Orange You Glad cupcakes exist?!

Fluffernutter Cupcakes~ Peanut butter cake laced with a marshmallow fluff. Dressed up with marshmallow buttercream and topped with crushed peanuts. (I may have to keep one for myself!)

Cinnamon Swirl Bread is back alongside the Strawberry Fields Bread – grab a loaf for breakfast. Goes great with Hillbippie tea or Pink Elephant coffees.

NEW this week: Almond Joy No Bakes … Nutella, Almond Slivers & Sweetened Coconut with a whole almond on top.  Perfect little afternoon treat!

Mother’s Day is around the corner and I’ll be making cupcake arrangements. A ceramic flower pot as the base with full size and mini cupcake “flowers.” I’ll be wrapping these as you would a gift basket with cellophane & ribbon. I plan to have 2 for sale at Local Bounty on Saturday, May 9. The cost will be $25 each. Please feel free to contact me if you would like to place an order and I will have your arrangement reserved and available for pick-up at the store that day as well. Cupcake flavors for the bouquet will be vanilla cake with vanilla buttercream or lemon cake with vanilla buttercream.

From my hive to yours

Mullet Apiaries

It may be soggy this week, but it’s not preventing our bees from building up for the spring flow. Many of the girls were bringing in rainbow colors of pollen this weekend and there are several frames of brood (babies!) in the hives. Here’s a real Local Bounty treat: home-made slow cooker yogurt made from Wholesome Valley milk, drizzled with our honey or mixed with Flying Pig Strawberry-Rhubarb jam and Mill Creek granola. What a great way to start the day! April is Poetry Month and it is also the month of planting peas, so to give you a smile, here’s a short food poem for you (author is listed as Anonymous although some attribute it to Shel Siverstein):

Peas with Honey

I always eat my peas with honey;

I’ve done it all my life.

They do taste kind of funny

but it keeps them on my knife.

Windy Hill Berry Farm

Wow, what wet weather we’ve been having! Glad we’re up here on the top of Windy Hill Farm. This week you will find a new jam on our shelves…Maple-icious Apple Jam. Get some to have on hand the next time you fix waffles for breakfast or pancakes for dinner. Pair it with some delicious bacon from Local Bounty for a real treat. On Friday, we will have restocked our chocolate dipped peanut butter pretzels. Go ahead and indulge; and get some of Pink Elephant’s coffee to enjoy with them! Looking ahead to next week, we will make every effort to bake some more Rhubarb Pecan bread. Hope to see you all at Local Bounty soon!
