Local Bounty Update

| May 7, 2015

Good Morning,
Enjoy this beautiful day and come shop our way.  Today and tomorrow 10 a.m. – 6 p.m., Sat. 9 a.m. – 1 p.m.

Vendor Updates:

Flying Pig Farm
We’ve got your summer cookout covered! We’ve mixed up some fresh grill marinade spice packets and paired them with hickory chips in a handy gift bag. Enjoy beef, pork, poultry, lamb and seafood smoked to perfection…there’s a spice included for all! We’ve also decided to offer Walter’s Bug Spray at Local Bounty. Named after our donkey, whom we first created it for, it will help deter flies, mosquito and deer ticks. Made with all natural essential oils so you avoid nasty chemicals. We’ve used it on us, the dogs, cows, donkey and even spray it on the barn walls with good results. In addition to the regular weekly baked goods we have Blueberry Scones, Cherry Sheet Cake, No Bake Chocolate Hazelnut Cookies and Monkey Muffins (made with banana and chocolate chips). Happy Mother’s Day to all!

Hillbippie
This weather is nice!  We did some major garden prep this past weekend, spreading compost and mucking the goat barn.  It isn’t a pretty job but it has to be done 🙂  I will have a new tea to chill out with tomorrow, it is called Summer High Chai.  Made of Black tea, Cardamom, Cloves and Lavender.  This tea is a great addition to your summer hang outs, it is delicious cold and quite refreshing! Look for it at the bounty tomorrow.  I hope you all are enjoying my pottery, this week I made a lot of bowls in different sizes.  Look for them next week! Thanks again and happy sunshine 🙂

Humble Bee Bakery
Greetings! This week I’ve been busy at hive planning out my cupcake bouquets in honor of Mother’s Day. I will drop off two at the store Friday morning-they’ll be packaged and ready for giving! You’ll find breads and bars available for purchase starting today. End your week on a sweet note!
•Cinnamon Swirl Bread
•Chocolate Chip Bread
•Very Berry Crumble Bars
•Lemon Crumble Bars
I’ve had my notepad out jotting down ideas-a signature item is in the works and I hope to bring that to you soon.
Have a wonderful weekend!

Keene Creek Farm
Oh, the greens are loving the sun and warmer temps we’ve had the past few days. We may have some Red Sails Lettuce to bring in Friday orSaturday. If not this week though, it will definitely be ready for next Thursday. Kale is growing strong too, it is just taking longer than the tender salad greens. We moved our pullets into the hen house this week. They go so incredibly quickly. Our two year old proved to be a true chicken wrangler. She jumped right into their pen, snatched them up and helped put them in the little cage I was using to move them up the hill. We also let our boar and gilts back out onto full pasture (we confined them in a smaller indoor/outdoor area to keep a better on them during their “breeding time”). The boar is thrilled with the abundance of mud in the pasture – he will go wallow in mud, run around, get all crusty, go roll some more and so on – good entertainment out the kitchen window. As for the market this week – our freezer/shelves are stocked with the norm. Texas Longhorn beef (which is getting rave reviews). Pastured pork products. Pizza dough mixes. And, more. Many thanks for your weekly commitment to shopping at Local Bounty and supporting local farmers like us.

Thank you,
— Local Bounty Vendors
