Local Bounty Update

| July 23, 2015

Good morning,

We hope you come see us today and tomorrow 10-6, Sat. 9-1!

Kids Cooking Camp

Our third annual Kids Cooking Camp starts Monday. We have 24 super-excited kiddos signed up to come learn some fun, healthy recipes they can make at home. We are grateful for our partnership with the Local OSU Extension Office to make this opportunity possible as well as a grant from the Columbus Foundation. And, many thanks to a generous community member who made a contribution to camp three years ago – your gift is *still* providing scholarships to children to attend who might not be otherwise able.

Farm to Table Dinner: Save the Date, September 19

We are very excited to announce that this year’s Farm to Table Dinner will be Saturday, September 19 at Young Farms in Warsaw. Chef Bob McKenna has agreed cater the dinner again (who could forget that Shepherd’s Pie or Garlic Roasted Chicken from last year?!?). More details will be coming shortly (including how to reserve your tickets).

Vendor updates:

Flying Pig Farm
This week we have Tendergreen green beans, Yellow Wax beans and Royal Burgandy green (well…really purple) beans. The Royal Burgandy are very flavorful! We’ve also been busy reseeding fall crops. Hopefully we’ll have greens and lettuce again soon. Don’t forget to pre-order your gluten free and non-GMO baked goods! Message us at www.facebook.com/OhioFlyingPigFarm or call 740-327-1029. There is also a sign-up sheet and product list at our booth. Please order by Wednesday at 9am for pickup at Local Bounty the next day at 10am. Thank you all!

Hillbippie

Our cucumber plants have exploded so I have cucumbers in the cooler!  Fresh mint and basil as well.  I also added some new mugs to my shelf, dishwasher and micro safe!

Keene Creek Farm

Our summer is certainly slip-sliddin’ away. Where did June and July go? August is almost here – eek. The biggest news happening around our place is that we are expanding our human farm family by one this winter. The girls are so very excited to be bigs and we are feeling blessed to have the opportunity bring another child into the world. This is another reason why we have been a little “MIA” lately as Marissa has been battling all day sickness. This week our pork freezer is restocked with the cuts we still have available (lots of sausage, brats, ham loaf, Canadian bacon and smoked sausage (nitrite free). We have hogs going to the processor the first week of August, so we will have chops and bacon ready after that. So sorry for the lull in supply of those cuts. Our Rustic Herb Pizza Dough mixes will be back on our market shelf this week (have you tried cooking them on the grill? Yum!). Thanks for your continued support of all LB vendors and our local food efforts.

Thank you as always,

–Local Bounty Vendors
