For those that love Chipotle you’re going to love this – they are adding bacon to the menu! But wait – that’s only in California. Sorry. I am sure that once it is a hit they will spread it eastward. Didn’t the country expand east to west? It hardly seems fair does it? Nachos are coming to a couple of other states – not Ohio.

This is a big week in Columbus as everyone knows. Ohio State head football coach Urban Meyer is on a 14 day paid administrative leave over when he did or did not know about the alleged domestic abuse by assistant coach Zach Smith. Smith was fired by the university on July 24. Meanwhile the Buckeyes are preparing for their season opener against Oregon State on Sept. 1.

High school athletes, musicians and cheerleaders are ramping up for another season of fall sports and band events. Two a days for football, all day band camps and a plethora of practice for other sports are in full swing and this week’s Beacon features area high school golf teams, schedules and team photos. Thanks to Lenzo Studio and Seibert Studio for sharing their photos. We appreciate it.

It was a busy week in Coshocton County with the Bakersville Homecoming, the annual United Way of Coshocton County “Taste of Coshocton” and the upcoming bean dinner in Newcastle! That’s not all that happened as other events were spread throughout the community over the past couple of weeks. Get ready for the first ever Sunflower Festival at the KOA Campground. It sounds like fun!

If you are a swimmer you know that the local pools are starting to ramp down for the summer season and the signs of an approaching fall are in the air. You can tell by looking at the grass – seeing the tougher grasses of fall invade your yard (at least ours) – and even some of the trees are showing signs of the foliage losing a bit of the bright green they held throughout the summer months.

Tiger Woods gave it everything he had and came up just short of Brooks Koepka in the PGA Championship held this past weekend. But it was resurgence nonetheless for the former number one golfer in the world and something that his fans around the world have been waiting to see.

Boston could easily win 100 games this season and will probably surpass that number as the baseball season heads into the final six weeks of the 2018 campaign. The Indians are well ahead in the Central Division but still lag behind Houston and Boston in the number of games won. They are actually the sixth place team in the American League in the number of games won. The playoffs are a totally different season as we all know.

The FBI has fired Peter Strzok, the agent who exchanged anti-Trump text messages with his lover according to several news sources. Before you jump all over the band wagon on this and claim that he had First Amendment rights and all that, this is the same guy that was leading the investigation in the Russian interference and Hillary Clinton email probes. Dig deeper and you will discover why he was fired.
