More details released on fatal fire

COSHOCTON – The Coshocton County Sheriff’s Office received a 911 call at approximately 6:50 a.m. Nov. 26, in reference to a house fire on Perry Township Road 370 with a 10-year-old boy trapped inside the home.

Walhonding Valley Fire, Coshocton County EMS and deputies responded to the scene.  Once at the home, additional fire units were requested.  Three Rivers Fire, Bladensburg Fire and Frazysburg Fire all responded.  The child, James M. Thompson, was later found dead in the home.

The cause of the fire remains under investigation by the State Fire Marshall’s Office, Walhonding Valley Fire and the Coshocton County Sheriff’s Office. The Coshocton County Coroner, Dr. Robert Gwinn, has preliminary ruled the cause of the death as asphyxiation due to smoke inhalation.
