Museum family paint night to focus on sunflowers

| July 6, 2018

COSHOCTON – Perhaps no flower can lift one’s spirits quite like the majestic sunflower. The Johnson-Humrickhouse Museum and Coshocton KOA are partnering this month to get you and your family ready to celebrate this ever-cheerful bloom. On Sunday, July 22, from 4 to 6 p.m. we invite you and your child to Family Paint Night: Sunflowers. Held at the museum, this art class is geared towards children ages 6 and older, and their guardians (moms, dads, grandparents, aunts, etc.). Each person will paint his or her own 16” x 20” stretched canvas using acrylic paints. Be inspired by Vincent Van Gogh’s favorite flower of happiness and within two hours you and your child will take home your own masterpieces.

Each participant will receive a free pass to the Coshocton Sunflower Festival, which takes place Aug. 17-19 at the Coshocton KOA. Your sunflower paintings will be displayed at the festival with a voting box at each one. Festival guests will vote with money and the proceeds will benefit the museum. Winners will receive a prize.

Cost for paint night is $16 for one adult and one child; $20 for one adult and two children. Friends and family memberships receive $3 off. Class size is limited and reservations with payment must be received by Thursday, July 19. Payment may be made through phone or in person. Museum business hours are 9:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday and noon to 5 p.m. on weekends. For more information contact the museum at 740-622-8710 or e-mail [email protected]. The Johnson-Humrickhouse Museum is located at 300 N. Whitewoman St. The Ohio Arts Council also helped fund this event with state tax dollars to encourage economic growth, educational excellence and cultural enrichment for all Ohioans.
