DSC_0105_FOR-WEBCOSHOCTON – Five members of the Cardinal Chorale staff will present “When I Grow Up: A Musical Theatre Showcase” on Sunday, July 9, at Ridgewood High School, 602 Johnson Street, West Lafayette. Curtain time is 3 p.m.

Matt Downing, Haley Evans, Peter Hampton, Erin Jobes, and Jennifer Sper will perform a variety of songs from stage and screen as solos, duets, trios, or as a full ensemble.  Featured songs will be from Beauty and the Beast, The Addams Family, The Sound of Music, Into the Woods, The Music Man, Company, and Guys and Dolls among others.

Downing is a music specialist with the Newark City Schools, Hampton will begin his masters in choral conducting at Boston University this fall, Evans is the choral director at Ridgewood High School, Jobes is the director of Christian education at The Presbyterian Church in Coshocton, and Sper is a choral music specialist at Stanton’s Sheet Music. Together, these young professionals have taught, coached and inspired young musicians in the Cardinal Chorale for a combined total of 60 years.

Tickets are $5 for students and children and $8 for adults, and may be purchased at the Ridgewood Auditorium door the afternoon of the performance. All proceeds will benefit the Cardinal Chorale.

The Cardinal Chorale was organized in 1995 by Charles R. Snyder, inspired by the sound of Fred Waring’s renowned Pennsylvanians. Since its founding, 610 high school and collegiate singers have raised their voices in song as members of the Chorale. This July, members of the 23rd edition of the Chorale will gather at Muskingum University for a week-long workshop that will prepare them for their year of concerts and touring.
