Ridgewood Elementary provides clothing for those in need

| August 6, 2019

WEST LAFAYETTE – Families who have children attending Ridgewood Elementary can find a new outfit for any member of the family at the Ridgewood Elementary School Clothing Closet. The closet is located in the modular area by the playground and is open every weekday from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. or by appointment.

Currently, the closet is not accepting donations as they have more than enough clothes that has already been donated. Previously, the clothing closet only accepted clothing for school-age children, but after the flood in West Lafayette, they now accept infant through adult sizes.

“It’s a store for anybody who needs anything,” said Denise Posey. “If there was a family who needed an outfit for each person in the family, they can come in and pick out an outfit for each person in the family.”

Ridgewood Elementary has offered a clothing closet to its students for the past seven to eight years and it is open year-round to any students attending Ridgewood and their family. The clothing closet is free and confidential.

Although they are not currently accepting donations, the closet has a wide variety of clothes to chose from including sweatpants, sweatshirts, shirts, jeans, dresses, jackets and coats. They do not have, nor do they accept any undergarments, socks, or shoes.

If the clothing closet is in need of any of the above items during the school year, a notice will be sent home with each Ridgewood Elementary student asking for donations.

If you would like to visit the closet, contact the elementary school at 740-545-5312 or the central office at 740-545-6354.
