NEW CONCORD – The Summer High School Music Theatre CAMP at Muskingum University will host a musical theatre production on Saturday, June 25 at 2:30 p.m. in the Sandra Wolfe Thompson Theatre of Philip and Betsey Caldwell Hall on the campus of Muskingum University.

The performance is free, as is parking, and Caldwell Hall is handicapped accessible. The public is invited to enjoy a fully-staged and choreographed program of scenes from favorite Broadway musicals including “West Side Story”, “Godspell”, “Hamilton”, “The Book of Mormon”, “Footloose”, “Hairspray”, “Little Shop of Horrors” and more.

The concert will be followed by a “Greet the Company” reception in the Caldwell Hall lobby. Early arrival is encouraged, as the show frequently fills the theatre to capacity.

A total of 34 talented young people from 16 high schools in several states have convened for a week of intense training in their skills for the Broadway musical stage. Daily dance classes, private voice lessons, acting sessions, scenes study, master classes and much fun are part of their week. This residential program is now in its 11th year and has been praised by students, parents, teachers, and community leaders for its positive and powerful impact on the lives of those who participate.

From Coshocton High School are: Cole Fisher and Kenzie Potter

This summer program has been recognized and supported in part by The Ohio Arts Council which helped fund this program with state tax dollars to encourage economic growth, educational excellence and cultural enrichment.

The large staff who work with students is led by CAMP Director Carol Wilcox Jones and guest directors Todd Schreiber, the 2013 Teacher of the Year in the Whiteford Schools, Michigan; Amy Leacock of Upper Arlington, Ohio; Muskingum University Music Professor Emeritus Robert Owen Jones, and many others. The ratio of students to staff is 3 to 1, making it possible for students to receive a great deal of individual attention.
