Suspects in custody after Franklin Township home invasion

COSHOCTON – Four adults remain in custody at the sheriff’s office in reference to an early morning home invasion in the 46000 block of Franklin TR 285 on Jan. 21.

On Jan. 21 at 5:52 a.m., the Coshocton County Sheriff’s Office received a 911 call in reference to a home invasion in the 46000 block of Franklin TR 285. The victims who were home at the time were unharmed.

At 11:25 a.m., West Lafayette police found a possible suspect vehicle from the home invasion and shortly after, detectives from the Coshocton County Sheriff’s Office detained several adults in reference to this ongoing investigation.

At 3:58 p.m., detectives executed a search warrant on an apartment at the Lafayette Mills Apartments in the 600 block of Plainfield Road. A firearm, large amount of drugs, cash and stolen property were seized.

On Jan. 22, Kathrine L. McGee, 34 years old and from the West Lafayette area, was formally charged with aggravated trafficking in methamphetamine, a Felony of the first degree. Dwight M. Weingarth, 22 years old and from the West Lafayette area, was formally charged with complicity to breaking and entering, a felony of the fifth degree. Dakota B. Grim, 24 years old and from the Kimbolton area, was formally charged with burglary, a felony of the second degree. Charles Robert Slay, 23 years old and from the Coshocton area, was formally charged with aggravated trafficking in methamphetamine, a felony of the first degree.

Additional charges are anticipated after review by the Coshocton County Prosecutor Jason Given.

Assisting the Coshocton County Sheriff’s Office with this investigation is West Lafayette Police Department, Coshocton County Children Services and The Coshocton County Prosecutor’s Office.
