COSHOCTON – Amy Stockdale, executive director of the Coshocton County Chamber of Commerce, is super excited for the upcoming third annual Health, Safety, and Wellness Expo.

“Last year there was someone there who had their blood pressure checked and it was sky high,” Stockdale said. “We got them to the ER and helped save a life. That’s what we want to do, get people healthier and teach them to be safer.”

The third annual Health, Safety, and Wellness Expo will be held from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 17, at Kids America, 1660 Otsego Ave.

The event is co-sponsored by the Coshocton County Chamber of Commerce, Coshocton County Memorial Hospital (CCMH) and Coshocton County Safety Council. Admission to the expo is free and there will be more than 35 exhibitors, kids’ activities, numerous health screenings, and wellness and safety information.

“I think we have as many new vendors as we do returning ones,” Stockdale said. “We also have more safety type people this year and a lot of the vendors will have door prizes.”

She also was excited to report that the Walhonding Valley Fire Department will have a booth with fire safety information and bring equipment to look at, MedFlight plans to land at Kids America and Dingo the Deputy Dog from the Sheriff’s Office will again visit the expo.

“Last year the kids loved Dingo,” Stockdale said.

Fun activities for the kids also are being planned by Miss Jennifer’s Dance Studio, which is located in Kids America, and by the Youth Asset Leadership Team (YALT) from Coshocton Behavioral Health Choices.

Another key part of the expo is the flu shots that will be available from Interim Healthcare and the blood tests that Coshocton Hospital and Health Services of Coshocton will be partnering to offer the public. Results will be sent to the patient’s physician. The tests that will offered for a reasonable fee include: CBC (Complete Blood Count); Chem8 (Glucose, BUN, Creatinine, Potassium, Chloride, Carbon Dioxide, and Calcium) test; Lipid Profile test; Thyroid Stimulation Hormone test; and the A1C test. There will also be many other free health screenings offered such as blood pressure screenings and a Dermascan.

“This is an event that really highlights services that are available right here in your own community,” Stockdale said.

Last year more than 500 people attended the free, family friendly event.

“You can stay 30 minutes or you can stay three hours,” Stockdale said. “We had people throughout the whole expo last year and even children were walking around, finding out about services and really participating.”
