Wendell L. Layman

FRESNO – Wendell L. Layman age 84 of Fresno, Ohio died Saturday, November 25, 2017 at home following an extended illness.

Funeral services will be 1:00 PM Friday, December 1, 2017 at Canal Lewisville United Methodist Church with Pastor Wes George officiating. Burial will follow at Canal Lewisville Cemetery.  Friends may call one and half hours prior to the service from 11:30 AM to 1:00 PM on Friday at the church.

Wendell was born August 1, 1933 in Coshocton, Ohio and was the son of Orland R. Sr. and Jessie Mae (Bechtol) Layman.  He was married to Joyce (Shumaker) Walton, who survives.  He was a member of Canal Lewisville United Methodist Church and was an officer of the Coshocton County Farm Bureau. He was a Plumber and Pipefitter Union Local 495 of Cambridge, Ohio. He was also a farmer and raised Belted Galloway Cattle.  He was a faithful blood donor to American Red Cross.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by 3 sons Michael D. Lyons, Sr. of West Lafayette, Ohio, Todd L. (Rebecca) Layman of Fresno, Ohio and Terry S (Patricia) Layman of Fresno, Ohio; 1 daughter Zoetta Lynn Layman of Atlanta, Georgia; 9 grandchildren; 6 great grandchildren; 2 brothers Orland Layman Jr. of Coshocton and Donald Layman of Strasburg, Ohio; 1 sister Beverly Brillhart of Coshocton; and 4 step-children Suzie Tupper of Coshocton, Ohio, Steve Walton of Marion, Ohio, Dave Walton of Mineral City, Ohio, and Jennifer Walton of Tampa, Florida.

Wendell was preceded in death by his first wife Joan Kaser; second wife Patty Heaton Lyons; 1 brother Elmo Layman.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Brown Farm of the Canal Lewisville United Methodist Church, 198 Church Street, Coshocton, Ohio 43812.
