| May 14, 2018

COSHOCTON – The 24th annual Coshocton County Relay for Life wrapped up at noon on Saturday, May 12 as teams prepared to head home after 18 hours of walking the track, talking about friends near and dear around the campfire, playing games, participating in Miss Relay but overall, joining together to raise funds to fight the scourge that is cancer.

Event Leads Amber Goddard, Chrisha Collins, Mike Farley and Stefani Bush took the stage to thank participants and give the results of the 2018 relay.

Amber Goddard said, “What an amazing 18 hours. I am exhausted as I am sure all of you are. It’s been one heck of an emotional 18 hours. The luminaria service got me last night. I want to thank all of you for sticking around and supporting us and doing what you do because without you guys we wouldn’t have a relay. Every dollar that you raise and every conversation that you have just brings awareness to what our survivors are going though and I think that’s a great thing.”

The total amount raised in the “change wars” was $82.91 with Coshocton Moose winning the title.

The top three teams for the 2018 Relay for Life were: Keene United Methodist Church with $13,072.40; Fresno Bible Church with $12,357.69; and Team Emmanuel with $7,459.66. The total raised so far is $57,961.79.

ACS Staff Partner Tracy Barnhouse said, “I am very confident that we will reach our goal of $70,300 with several team fundraisers yet to go. I believe that we will get there. Congratulations to everyone and thank you for all of your hard work.” Teams have until Aug. 31 to hit the season goal for 2018.

Most original campsite was awarded to Team Alana, most theme related went to Team Teddy, and best overall went to Team Mudrich who went so far as to have boat and ocean sounds at their campsite.

Teams compete in various games and contests to earn points and Gospel Hill was third with 4,145 points, second place was Team Mudrich with 7,555 points and the winner was Team Alana with 10,870 points who carried home the first place trophy.

A wrap-up meeting will be held Monday, June 18 at 6 p.m. at RHDD in Coshocton.

The Coshocton County Honor Guard inducted Bruce Collins, who is in the Army into the honor guard at this year’s relay.
