Accident with injuries reported

COSHOCTON – On Sept. 15 at approximately 2:55 p.m., the Coshocton County Sheriff’s Office received a 911 call in reference to an accident with injuries. Upon arrival of deputies, it was determined that a Daniel E. Spees, age 75 from Massillon, Ohio, and his passenger Karen Spees, age 76 from Massillon, were driving a 2016 Harley Davidson three-wheel motorcycle eastbound on SR 541 just east of SR. 60 south. The vehicle then went off the right side of the roadway and struck a sandstone block. Both occupants were thrown off the motorcycle and down into a creek bed. Both occupants were not wearing helmets. Mrs. Spees was transported from the scene by the Coshocton County Squad to Genesis Hospital, where she is listed in stable condition. Mr. Spees was flown from the scene by Med Flight to The Ohio State University Hospital, where he is listed in critical condition. It is believed that the driver may have had a medical situation that was the contributing factor in the accident.

Assisting at the scene was the Walhonding Valley Fire Department, Coshocton County EMS, Med Flight, REACT and Prince’s Wrecker Service. This accident remains under investigation.
