Area man dies after being struck by train

COSHOCTON – On Jan. 24, at approximately 12:29 p.m., the Coshocton County Sheriff’s Office received 911 calls in reference to a man being struck by a train.

Once on scene, deputies determined that Michael D. Rhoades, a 52-year-old Coshocton City resident, was attempting to cross a stationary train and was severely injured when it began to move. He was transported from the scene by Coshocton County EMS to Coshocton Regional Medical Center where he later died from his injuries.

In addition to investigating this incident, deputies assisted Coshocton County EMS, Coshocton City Fire and Ohio Central Railroad.

This incident remains under investigation by the Coshocton County Sheriff’s Office.
