Speaks PicBuelah P. “Corky” (Schonauer) Speaks, 82, passed away November 11, 2014 in Durango, Colorado where she has lived for the past few years near her daughter, Pam (Hawthorne) Pastor and grandchildren Carmen and Kendal. Corky was born in Coshocton on March 30, 1932 to the late Harvey D. and Viola (Perry) Schonauer. She graduated from Coshocton High School and resided most of her life in Coshocton. She loved playing cards, crocheting (Especially baby blankets) and was widely known for making and sharing her homemade caramels. Corky was a member of the Church of the Nazarene. Along with her parents she is preceded in death by her husband of 37 years, John J. Speaks, who passed away in 2003 and several siblings. Corky is survived by her daughter Pamela (Hawthorne) Pastor of Durango, CO; stepsons John T. (Rita) Speaks of Coshocton, and Jeff A. (Sonia) Speaks of Orville, OH; stepdaughter Keturah “Kitty” (Craig) Malone of Pataskala, OH; sisters June Johnson of Arlington, OH, Pauline Brock of AL; brothers Harvey D. (Diana) Schonauer of Salem, OR and Arthur Swope of MO; and several grandchildren and great grandchildren. A graveside service will be held at The Prairie Chapel Cemetery on Thursday, June 25, 2015 at10:30 AM officiated by Pastor Steve Ward, District Superintendent of the North Central Ohio Church of the Nazarene in Mt. Vernon, Ohio.
