Cleanup day volunteers thanked at council meeting

| April 12, 2022

At the April 11 city committee meeting and council meeting, Mayor Mark Mills expressed gratitude and thanks to the 75 volunteers who showed up for the cleanup day that occurred on April 9. He went on to encourage drivers to not throw trash out of their vehicles onto the streets. Instead, he suggests using trash receptacles placed on Main Street.

Mills also said land has been identified for the city to possibly develop. Additionally, Mills stated he is currently having discussions with Pace Financing about a potential Pace Financing project downtown that would have both city and county benefits. Details are not likely to be known until late spring or early summer. Likewise, Mills is in talks regarding the consolidation of the city and county health departments.

Law Director Robert Skelton recommended council vote to go into executive session allowing the mayor, service director, city auditor and himself to discuss a pending litigation.

City Auditor Sherry Kirkpatrick shared the city’s general fund is down to $444,000 and expressed the need for council to begin planning for the 2023 year.

Jeff Corder, property code inspector, addressed residents letting them know the snow is gone, making trash very visible. He continued by strongly encouraging residents to police their neighborhood before the city does.

Residents who have attended or viewed council meetings recently, which begin at 7 p.m., may have noticed council members have not been discussing issues pertaining to the city very much. As a matter of fact, here of late, voting on legislation is mostly what has occurred at city council meetings. Residents who desire to know what is going on in the city and what is being discussed concerning the city should view the committee meeting which starts at 5:30 p.m. The meeting(s) can be viewed online by going to YouTube and typing in “Coshocton City Hall.” Meetings are held the second and fourth Monday of every month.
