Clifford W. Burris

UHRICHSVILLE – Clifford Wiley Burris, 82, of Uhrichsville, died Friday, December 22, 2017 at Community Hospice in New Philadelphia.

He was born Sept. 29, 1935 in Akron to the late Charles and Grethel (Harper) Burris. He served in the US Army National Guard from 1955-1963. He worked at the former Gerstenslager Company for 44 years until his retirement. He was devoted to raising his family, even during a seven-year stretch at work in which he worked 7 days a week and never missed a day. He enjoyed fishing, pencil drawing and oil painting.

He is survived by his wife of 57 years, Norma Jean Grey Cutlip-Burris of Urichsville, whom he married June 12, 1960; three sons, Thomas Burris of Warsaw, Timothy (Melissa) Burris of Warsaw, and Todd (Lynnette) Burris of Port Washington; two daughters, Deborah Sommers of Urichsville, and Rebekah Burris (William Foster Jr.) of Urichsville; grandchildren, Tucker, Amber, Sabrina, Jeffery, Tyler, Tia, Cody, Foster, Stephan, Matthew and Gracie; great-grandchildren, Tyesha, Charlie, and  Havannah; brothers, Earl (Kathy) Burris of Warsaw, and Charles (Linda) Burris of Massillon; sisters, Zera Bible and Izora Parsons, both of West Lafayette, Lenora Green of Arizona, and Elsie (Ron) McCracken of Florida.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Clarence Burris; sisters-in-law, Norma Gard-Burris and Louise Burris; brothers-in-law, Richard Bible, Calvin Parson, and James Green; a niece, Sherie Hunt; and a nephew, Richard Bible Jr.

Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 27, 2017 at the Fischer Funeral Home in Warsaw with Pastor Lee Randolph officiating.  Entombment will take place in Coshocton County Memory Gardens, with military rites performed by the Coshocton Co. Veterans Honor Guard. Visitation is on Tuesday, Dec. 26th from 5-7 p.m. at the funeral home.
