Cliff Copenhaver PictureTUSCALOOSA – Clifton “Cliff” Copenhaver, age 88, of Tuscaloosa, AL, died May 25, 2015.

Cliff was born in 1927 in Winchester, Va. He was drafted in to World War II in 1945 while a junior in high school. He graduated high school in Coshocton, Ohio. He joined the Ohio State Patrol until 1957. During that time, he married Laura Sue Robson in 1953. Then he was general manager of Robson’s Restaurant in Coshocton, Ohio. He went to work for Peabody Coal in 1967. In 1969, he moved to Scottsboro, Ala. to work for Arch Mineral Coal. In 1975, he moved to Chester, Illinois for Arch Mineral Coal. In 1976, he moved to Tuscaloosa, Ala. where he retired as a superintendent for Drummond Coal Company.

He is survived by his wife, Susie Copenhaver; daughters, Leslie Magness (Rich), of Monkey Island, Okla., and Patty Ryan (Lynn), of Madison, Miss.; sons, Brett Copenhaver) and Mike Copenhaver (Tammy Black) Tuscaloosa, Ala.; Robbie Copenhaver (Michelle) ;brother, Lewis Copenhaver, of Coshocton, Ohio; and eight grandchildren and six great grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Paul and Pearl Copenhaver; brothers, Larry and David Copenhaver, and sister, Betty Meyers.

A memorial Mass of Christian Burial will be held at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, 805 Main St., Coshocton, Ohio on Saturday June 6, 2015 at 10:30 AM with Father Victor Wesolowski officiating. A time of visitation with Cliff’s family will be available from 9:00 AM until the time of the Mass. Interment will follow in Coshocton County Memory Gardens where Coshocton County Veterans Honor Guard will perform military honors. The Miller Funeral Home, Coshocton is serving the family.
