NEWARK – The National Council for Marketing and Public Relations (NCMPR) honored Central Ohio Technical College (COTC) with two prestigious Gold Paragon awards during the network’s awards presentation held at the recent NCMPR national conference in Portland, Oregon.

Leslie Lenzo McLaughlin, senior graphic designer in the marketing and public relations office at COTC, said, “It’s particularly rewarding to be honored in this way among professional colleagues in the two-year college sector, on a national scale.” She worked with writers/editors at the college to produce the Gold-award winning view book for COTC, which is an annual publication used by admissions representatives to market the college to prospective students. In addition, the college was awarded a Gold Paragon for its newsletter, “Profiles,” in the electronic newsletter category. “Profiles” is designed by Suzanne S. Clark, communications coordinator, and edited by Andy Ellinger, assistant director. The purpose of this bi-annual publication is to inform the region about the programs, services and noteworthy activities across all COTC campus locations. “Striving for continued excellence in the quality of our work is aligned with COTC’s vision to be recognized as Ohio’s premier technical college,” stated Ellinger. NCMPR’s prestigious Paragon Awards recognize outstanding achievement in communications at community and technical colleges. It’s the only national competition of its kind that honors excellence exclusively among marketing and PR professionals at two-year colleges.

Winners hail from large, multi-campus districts and small institutions, from large staffs with healthy budgets and from one-person shops with limited resources. All of them demonstrate that creativity, originality and unique approaches to problem solving set the winners apart.

The National Council for Marketing and Public Relations is one of the fastest-growing affiliates of the American Association of Community Colleges. Go to for more information or to view a complete listing of winners in each of the 53 categories. To learn more about COTC, visit
