Couple flown to Grant after motorcycle vs vehicle accident

COSHOCTON – On Sept. 25, at approximately 12:21 p.m. the Coshocton County Sheriff’s Office received multiple 911 calls in reference to a vehicle vs. motorcycle accident at the intersection of State Route 621 and U.S. Route 36.

Upon arrival of sheriff’s deputies it was determined that Merritt Roberson (39) of Coshocton was traveling northbound from County Road 621 in his 2006 Saturn Ion. Mr. Roberson failed to yield the right of way and struck a 2016 Harley Davidson motorcycle operated by James Lee Garretson (63 ) of Grantsville, West Virginia, which was traveling westbound on U.S. Route 36. Mr. Garretson and his passenger Sheila Garretson (61 ) also of Grantsville, West Virgina, who were both wearing their protective helmets, were ejected from the motorcycle.

Roberson was treated at the scene and released. Mr. & Mrs. Garretson were both transported to the Coshocton County Regional Medical Center and later flown to Grant Hospital due to their injuries. Assisting at the scene was the Coshocton County EMS, the Three Rivers Fire District, Coshocton County React, and Prince’s Wrecker Service. This accident remains under investigation by your Coshocton County Sheriff’s Office.
