Doris Jean Dickerson

COSHOCTON – Doris Jean Dickerson, 90, of Coshocton passed away at Genesis Morrison House Hospice on Friday February 16, 2018.

Jean was born on December 26, 1927 in Coshocton County to the late Ernest E. and Helen (Derr) Meek.

She graduated from Coshocton High School in 1945 and continued her education at the White Cross Hospital School of Nursing in Columbus and participated in the Cadet Nurses Corp.

Jean was employed at Coshocton County Memorial Hospital for many years and retired from the Coshocton County Health Department as the Director of Nursing.  She was a long time member of St. John’s United Church of Christ.

She is survived by her two sons Stephen (Ilene) Dickerson of Olympia, WA and Jeffrey (Susie) Dickerson of Coshocton; grandchildren Lance (Kelly) Dickerson, Shoshana Dickerson, Chris Dickerson and a special granddaughter Julie Jacobs; seven great grandchildren; several nephews and her canine companion Josie Maria.

In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband of sixty-nine years Russell W. Dickerson, Russell passed away February 1, 2015 and one brother Dale E. Meek.

Friends may call at The Miller Funeral Home, 639 Main St., Coshocton on Sunday February 18, 2018 from 2:00 PM to 4:00 PM and one hour prior to the service on Monday.

Funeral services for Jean will be held at the funeral home on Monday at 11:00 AM with Rev. Philip Hunt officiating.  Interment will follow in Fairfield Cemetery, West Lafayette.
