Elizabeth was born on June 3, 1942, in Lorain, Ohio to Bertalan and Elizabeth (Magyar) Takacs. She grew up in Elyria, Ohio and graduated from Elyria Catholic High School in 1961. After serving in the US Air Force from 1961-1965, Elizabeth raised her son, William, and her daughter, Lisa, in Coshocton, Ohio. She looked forward to spending time on the beach in Duck, NC each summer looking for the perfect seashells. Liz loved to play dice games with family and her friends Diana McCollister, Diana Timmerman, and Connie Hoffman. She also looked forward to trips to the casinos with Lisa to try her luck with the slot machines.

Liz loved her children dearly and her greatest joy was spoiling her grandchildren, Ryan and Morgan. Throughout the years, she took great pride in all of their accomplishments.
