Gibbs gives statement on Final Waters of the United States Rule

| May 27, 2015

WASHINGTON, DC – In response to the Environmental Protection Agency finalizing its Waters of the United States Rule, Congressman Bob Gibbs released the following statement:

“Once again, the EPA and the Obama Administration ignored the will of the public and the legislative intent of Congress.  The EPA’s WOTUS rule (also known as the Clean Water rule) is a massive federal power grab and will do nothing but make everyday practices more costly for farmers, homeowners and other interested stakeholders to comply with burdensome government mandates.  The House acted earlier this month to stop this rule and require the EPA and Army Corps to go back to the drawing board, consult with local stakeholders, and craft a commonsense rule that protects the environment and does not cause undue financial or regulatory burden. I am disappointed that despite a groundswell of opposition, the EPA pushed forward and finalized the rule.  I will continue to fight this unnecessary regulatory action.”
