Mercer Pic_CropCOSHOCTON – Harry E. “Butch” Mercer Jr., 77, of Coshocton, passed away at Tuesday, July 25, 2017 at Community Hospice in New Philadelphia.  Butch was born in Coshocton on November 11, 1939 to the late Harry E. Mercer Sr. and Mary (Hall) Dunfee.

Butch had worked in Auto Body repair throughout his life at Carroll’s Buckeye Motors and Finton Equipment.  He loved fishing and working on cars.

He is survived by his wife Carol J. Mercer whom he married December 3, 1983; children Joyce (Ryan) Redmon of Columbus, Judy (Kenny) Cabot of West Lafayette, Jeanette Mercer of Newcomerstown, Janelle Mercer of West Lafayette and Jim (Julie) Mercer of Coshocton; step children Denise (Bill) Britton of West Lafayette, Renee Smith of Coshocton and Vickie (Dave Fitzer) Scott of Warsaw; twenty two grandchildren; numerous great grandchildren; three brothers Bud (Jean) Mercer of Coshocton, Mike (Janet Moore) Mercer of Will Creek and David Dunfee of Coshocton; one sister Kate (Randy Leavangood) Whiteus of Coshocton; numerous nieces and nephews.

Along with his parents, he is preceded in death by his sister Jenny Mercer.

Friends may call at The Miller Funeral Home, 639 Main St., Coshocton on Thursday, July 27, 2017 from 4:00pm to 5:00pm where funeral services will begin at 5:00pm with Lloyd Tenney officiating.

A cremation will take place after the funeral services.

In lieu of flowers memorial contributions can be directed to Miller Funeral Home, 639 Main St., Coshocton, Ohio 43812 to help defray funeral expenses, envelopes will be available at the funeral home.
