Hershberger’s Bake Shop issues a voluntary recall

| October 6, 2017

DANVILLE – Hershberger’s Bake Shop in Danville is voluntarily recalling its Hershberger’s Sugar Cookies due to an undeclared milk allergen. Cookies were sold in a clear, 10-cookie hinged container; 14 oz. size. This recall has been initiated due to the ingredient label not declaring milk as an allergen.

Products were available for sale at retail locations in Mansfield, Mt. Vernon, Danville, Utica and Howard, OH. An Ohio Department of Agriculture inspector discovered the mislabeling issue during a routine visit. There have been no reports of illness involving products addressed in this recall; however, people who have an allergy or severe sensitivity to milk run the risk of a serious or life-threatening allergic reaction if they consume this product. Individuals exhibiting signs or symptoms of food borne illness or allergies should contact a physician immediately.

Customers with a milk allergy or sensitivity who have purchased the affected product should dispose of it or return it to the place of purchase for a replacement. Consumers with questions regarding this recall can contact Ervin Hershberger, Hershberger’s Bake Shop, at 740-599-9913 ext. 4.
