Howard E. “Howie” Roth
Howard E. “Howie” Roth, 82, of Coshocton joined his beloved wife Erma at 12 Noon, Thursday, February 21, 2013 at the Morrison House in Zanesville, Ohio.
Born September 24, 1930, in BelleValley (Noble County), Ohio he was the son of the late Roy Jacob and Etta O. (Huffman) Roth.
A career military man, Howard first served in the U. S. Navy from June 9, 1948 to January 16, 1950. On January 16, 1951 he joined the U.S. Air Force where he served over 20 years until his retirement as a Technical Sergeant on July 1, 1970. Returning to Coshocton Howard was then employed at the former Pretty Products followed by work at the former Bown’s Plumbing-Heating Supplies until the business closed.
Howard enjoyed singing, watching game shows on TV and all sports with a special devotion to the Cleveland Indians.
On July 24, 1955 he married Erma Florence Vogel who preceded him in death on May 1, 2005.
Surviving family members are two sons Rob R. (Carolyn) Roth of Coshocton, Bret M. Roth of Columbus; two daughters Tammie A. (Ron) Miller of Coshocton, Julie L. Roth of Canton; ten grandchildren Tara Roth, Tory (Rob) Griffith, Chandra (Derek) Hinkle, Whitney Deringer, Shawndra Roth, Joey Roth, Jacob Roth, Brandi (Julian) Smith, Shawn Hawthorne, Jonny Hawthorne; several great-grandchildren; brother Russell (Jean) Roth, Nebraska; many nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents and wife, Howard was preceded in death by three sons Howard Roth, Jr., Brian Jay Roth, Shawn H. Roth, and a sister Martha Henning.
Services will be held at 2:00 P.M., Thursday, February 28, 2013 at the Free Funeral Home in Coshocton with Pastor Jim Gross officiating. Relatives and friends may call at the Free Funeral Home one hour prior to the service.
Interment of the Cremains will follow at South Lawn Cemetery where military honors will be conducted by the Coshocton County Veterans Honor Guard.
