James V. Cognion

James V. Cognion, 84, of Coshocton passed away on March 29, 2021 at his home. He was born on July 23, 1936 in Magnolia, Ohio to the late Ambrose and Marie (Scott) Cognion. On June 24, 1956, he married Elizabeth Jane (Lawrence) Cognion, who survives. He worked at Stone Container for over 40 years and owned his own trucking business. James was a hard worker, always hauling stone and dirt when he wasn’t working. He loved his family and spending time with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He enjoyed taking his wife Jane for rides around town.

Along with his wife, Jane, he is survived by his children, Debbie Nichols of Myrtle Beach, SC., Julie (Steve) Courtright of West Lafayette, Mike (Julia) Cognion of Gloucester, VA., Lisa (Jeff) Gress of Coshocton, Kelly Blair of Coshocton and Tim (Vicki) Cognion of Nashport; 15 grandchildren and 29 great-grandchildren; siblings, Francis (Linda) Cognion, Mary Jane Thomas, Tony (Diane) Cognion and Loretta (Ronnie) Moore.

James is preceded in death by his daughter, Lori Wiggins; great-granddaughter, Leanne Hittle and siblings, Rosetta Moran, Bertha Woods and Anthony Cognion.

Calling hours will be at the Miller Funeral Home on Thursday, April 1, 2021 from 4pm to 7pm and one hour prior to the funeral service. The funeral service will be held at the funeral home on April 2, 2021 at 11am with Pastor Mark Granger officiating. Burial will follow at the Coshocton County Memory Gardens.

In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to the Leanne Marie Hittle Memorial Scholarship Fund at the Coshocton Foundations. Envelopes will be available at the funeral home.
