James Wilmer Shample

COSHOCTON – James Wilmer Shample, age 74, of Coshocton, passed away unexpectedly on Saturday, January 7, 2017. He was born in December 23, 1942, in Coshocton County to the late Wilmer and Virginia (Caley) Shample. Jim served in the United States Army and then worked for Stone Container before retiring.

He was a member of the American Legion, AMVETS, and the VFW. He loved watching sports, especially the girls West Holmes High School basketball team. Jim went to the Coshocton County Senior Center every day to eat lunch and spend time with his friends. He enjoyed making canes out of wood and loved to collect things.

Jim is survived by his two sons, Jamie Shample of Coshocton and Mark “Frog” Shample of Arizona. Along with his parents, Jim is preceded in death by his special companion, Carol Duren, and his brother Mike Shample.

Calling hours will be held on Friday, January 13, 2017 from 5:00-7:00pm at Given-Dawson Funeral Home. A memorial service will be held at 7:00pm on Friday with Reverend  Ric Bonice officiating.
