John Stephen “Steve” Miller
John Stephen “Steve” Miller passed away peacefully under hospice care on May 4, 2025 after coping bravely with major health issues for over a decade. Instead of complaining, he counted his blessings.
Steve was born 6/30/44 in Coshocton to the late Oscar and Mildred (Wright) Miller.
He was a graduate of Coshocton High School and Columbus Business University (with a degree in accounting). While in high school Steve was a Tribune paper carrier and was voted Outstanding Carrier, winning a trip to Bolivia, which was quite an experience for a hometown boy!
In 1966 Steve married Connie Stotts, who passed away in 1994 after a lengthy illness. In 1999 Steve married Barb Emmons and was happy to take on the role of stepdad to Josh and Amanda.
Steve was an avid skier having skied all over the U.S. plus Italy and Switzerland. His greatest skiing accomplishment was helicopter skiing in Banff, Canada on a glacier mountain with his nephew. After a long and successful 43-year career in the healthcare field, Steve retired from Coshocton County Memorial Hospital, having held various administrative positions. He and his wife then spent two weeks of each month in Chicago, enjoying museums, plays, and grandson, Walker. Being an avid Bears and Cubs fan, he was thrilled to be in Chicago when they won the World Series-what a celebration! And then how wonderful to return for two weeks a month to Coshocton, country living, friends, and peace and quiet. Despite so many wonderful experiences, the biggest enjoyment of his life was making memories with his two little buddies, grandsons Asher and Walker, be it playing in the treehouse, playing pretend, water balloon fights-he cherished these moments the most.
Steve was a member of Coshocton Rotary, Grand Lodge 96, Coshocton Elks, and treasurer and board member of United Way of Coshocton County for 15 years. Steve is survived by his wife, Barb, stepson, Josh (Pam Bergson), stepdaughter, Amanda, grandsons, Walker and Asher, brother, Keith (Elaine), and numerous sisters-in-law, brothers-in- law, nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by sister, Shirley Hiles.
Steve had a huge passion for the music of The BeeGees. It was his wish that you might think of him and smile when you hear their music on the radio.
