COSHOCTON – Tanner Davis wants to share his musical talents with others.

Davis has been playing guitar for 12 years and is now teaching the skill to others.

“I felt like I had something to give to people,” he said. “I have experience under my belt and knowledge I’ve gained over the years from other teachers. It’s fulfilling getting to show people music, specifically the guitar.”

Davis has experience in all styles of music. He can work with all ages and abilities on both electric and acoustic guitars.

“I offer a trial lesson and have a guitar that they can use,” Davis said. “The first lesson is free of charge so they can get a feel for what I do. I’m also open to helping people who just have questions like where to buy a guitar at and how much they should spend.”

Lessons are 45 minutes long, once a week and are one-on-one. He’s been teaching for two years and has a testimony from former student Dave Evin.

“If you want to learn to play guitar and understand it, you need to learn from Tanner Davis,” Evin said. “Tanner is patient, prepared, and professional and he will have you playing the first day. You will get detailed personal lessons and be given many tools, tips and techniques from one of the most versatile individuals I have met, regardless of your particular area of musical interest. He is flexible and accommodating in scheduling lessons. I cannot recommend Tanner highly enough.”

Lessons are $25 per session and Davis teaches at his home in West Lafayette during the evenings.

“The most rewarding part of teaching is definitely seeing my students’ progress,” he said. “I think what sets me apart with my teaching is that I spend a lot of time before my lessons reflecting on what each student needs and take into account what type of music they like.”

For information, or to sign up for lessons, call or text Davis at 740-610-8727.

“I had many different teachers growing up and gained knowledge from each of them,” he said. “I know a lot of different ways to look at playing and teaching.”
