Local Bounty to have annual meeting

| January 14, 2014

Hi Local Bounty Members, Supporters & Vendors:

For the past two years Local Bounty has helped feed many people in our community. For the past two years it has relied on a small core of individuals who have volunteered countless hours help the business grows. And, for the past two years we have watched our business thrive when other small businesses close their doors.

Now we need your help. While we have seen tremendous growth since our first year in business, we know that there are many more unexplored opportunities that await us. We need fresh ideas, new and broader involvement from our supporters, and individuals to step into leadership roles to help us move forward.

On Wednesday, January 22 at 6:00 p.m. we are having our annual meeting in the Frontier Power Community Room. At this meeting we will elect the following officers who will serve on Local Bounty’s Board of Directors:

1. Vice-President/Market Manager: overseeing the daily bookkeeping of market sales, managing some on-site market logistics, serving on the Board of Directors and more

2. Consumer Advocate: serving as the voice of consumers to our board, serving on the Board of Directors

3. Treasurer: overseeing the incoming and outgoing monies, paying bills, distributing checks to vendors, serving on the Board of Directors

4. Secretary (may be combined with treasurer): keeping track of memberships (vendor and consumer), keeping minutes at meetings, serving on the Board of Directors

5. Market Manager: overseeing marketing efforts (including social media, print and radio advertising), responding to LB’s email account, compiling the weekly market update, regularly communicating with vendors about product availability, etc.

The two market managers will work closely to see that all logistics related to running the market are covered.

The time commitment each of these offices require depends on the individual role. For example, the market manager can expect to spend anywhere from 3-10 hour a week working on behalf of the market, depending on the tasks that need accomplished in that given week. However, a consumer advocate may only be looking at contributing an hour or two a week.

All members of the board of directors make decisions about new vendors. They are all also responsible for helping recruit and retain vendors. The Board of Directors should plan to meet at least every other month and to attend regular vendor meetings (approximately 3-4 times a year).

If you are interested in joining our board of directors and running for one of these offices, please come to our meeting. It would be a good idea to be prepared to share a little bit about yourself (nothing extravagant or fancy, just enough that would let your enthusiasm and commitment show). We will vote on all of the above offices Wednesday night and will leave the meeting with a new board of directors, something we are very excited about.

We thank you in advance for considering one of these roles.

Best,
Marissa Mullett
