Happy April! We have restocked our delicious pastured raised meat products: bone-in pork chops, hot Italian links and there is plenty of bacon, chicken breast and rabbit. You might want to try some of our smoked Andouille sausage in a skillet or dust off the grill. Andouille is also wonderful in gumbo, jambalaya, with a pot of beans, or to jazz up pasta.

We have a new product in stock. We are now making a rich but very simple body butter with tallow rendered from grass fed beef tallow. It contains only four ingredients and it is so safe it is edible. Drop in and give it a try. Although it is uncommon these days to use animal fat in cosmetic products there is good reason to reconsider this choice. Tallow fat is about 50-55 percent saturated, like our cell membranes. Because of this, tallow is extremely compatible with our cell biology and absorbs quickly without the use of chemical dryers (as is common in most commercially made lotions and moisturizers). Tallow contains large amounts of fat-soluble vitamins A, D, K, and E all of which are necessary for skin health. The essential oils in the body butter only add to its goodness.

Warm weather is here so why not grill some chicken? We have thighs, wings and drumsticks for an easy week night meal or weekend entertaining! Pair with one of the delicious BBQ sauces at LB. Our chicken is pastured and non-GMO!

Bob’s Pickle Patch/ Verda’s Hens

This week we will be bringing in eggs on Thursday.  All of our eggs are a special price of $3.50 a dozen and $10.00 for 3 dozen.  This special goes until April 15th. Happy Easter!

Thanks for shopping at Local Bounty.

Spring is definitely here, and our hens are laying like crazy. Their eggs weigh in at jumbo size, and are brown in color. Many people think it’s not possible to dye brown eggs for Easter, but it works just fine—the colors are richer and deeper, rather than pastel. This week we’re bringing lots of eggs, and Erin baked more of her delicious oatmeal bread. Mary will also bake her chocolate chip oatmeal cookies to order. And while you’re at the store, pick up a brochure about our CSA (Community Supported Agriculture). We still have a few slots open for the 2017 season. Thanks for shopping local!
