Good Morning,

Farm to Table Dinner: Save the Date, September 19

We are very excited to announce that this year’s Farm to Table Dinner will be Saturday, September 19 at Young Farms in Warsaw. Chef Bob McKenna has agreed cater the dinner again (who could forget that Shepherd’s Pie or Garlic Roasted Chicken from last year?!?). More details will be coming shortly (including how to reserve your tickets).

Vendor Updates:
Flying Pig Farm
Our best selling jams have been restocked…blackberry, red raspberry, blueberry and grape! We also freshened up our soup and and rice mixes. Pick up some hamburger and 4 Bean Chili or Black Bean Soup. It’s the perfect comfort food for a rainy day. This week sample Applesauce Muffins. Made with homemade applesauce these muffins have less sugar and fat. The Cinnamon Raisin Sweet Rolls were a hit so they’ll make another appearance. Get your baked goods on Thursday while they’re fresh…and still available! Thanks for shopping local!

Hillbippie

Hey all, we are back from the beach and still trying to shake the sand from our toes!  It has been a transition getting back into farm life, although the garden looks great and all the animals are healthy and happy.  This week I will have Mint Condition, Summer High Chai and Reset Button restocked (finally, right?!).  I also have new bags, they have a zip top so you can keep your tea right in the bag!  They will be dropped off later this afternoon.  I also have a wide variety of pottery, remember that it is dishwasher, oven and microwave safe.  There is just something special about using a piece of pottery when you know the person who made it.  You feel connected to the craftsman the way you feel connected to the farmer or baker when you enjoy their goods.  That is what it’s all about, connection!  Now that you are all warm and fuzzy inside stop by the market today and pick up some goodness 🙂 Peace!
Keene Creek Farm

Sorry if it seems as if we have been missing in action lately – we were on vacation one week and have spent the past two weeks trying to catch up on so many things around home…Anyway, we are back and ready for the market week. Our pork is starting to run low, we have more scheduled to butcher early August. But, the freezer is still stocked with lots of brats, sausage patties, ham loaf and Canadian bacon. I know we mentioned before having a lead on a couple bred Longhorn heifers – we found out that one is actually bred, the other is not. So, we haven’t been able to reach an agreement for them yet. The pullets we brought home in April will start laying in August. Yay! Unfortunately, our kale has petered out. It got horribly buggy while we were away and it just looks pretty sad and “done.” Thanks for supporting all LB vendors – we are grateful to have the opportunity to help feed you and yours every week.

Windy Hill Berry Farm
It’s back…Blueberry-Banana Bread, a popular item this time of year. Made with local, pesticide-free blueberries. Try it slightly warmed and spread with real butter. Also, a new batch of Chocolate (hand dipped) Peanut Butter Pretzel Bites have been made. Give some to your dog walker or hair dresser to help get them through their day. And last, but definitely not least, a few pints of blueberries will be in the cooler Thursday morning. Stop in Thursday afternoon from 2-6 and say hello!

Woodbury Farm

Hello from those of us at the farm, we hope your summer has been good so far. The family and farm had some unexpected challenges to overcome.  Those challenges unfortunately have effected our products at the bounty. Carol broke her heal in late May, so fudge and trail mix will be in short supply from our farm. We also had a crafty critter get in the chicken house and had a nice meal, leaving us really short on chicken for a while. We are stocked up with what we have available and looking to more in mid September.  Thank you for your understanding and support. Please stop and check Local Bounty, it amazes me how each time I go in there is a new product. Have a nice summer.

Thank you kindly,
