| June 24, 2013

Marie Lucellia (Lauvray) Kelly, 93, of West Lafayette, a noted pie baker and former restaurateur in Warsaw and Zanesville, passed away surrounded by her loving family on Friday, June 21, 2013 at her home.

Born September 17, 1919 at Bacon Run, Linton Township in Coshocton County, she was the daughter of the late Francis Everett and Rachael Mildred (Guilliams) Lauvray.

A graduate of the Pittsburgh Culinary Institute, Marie had also taken classes at the Master Baking and Decorating School in Chicago in addition to food preparation classes at other schools and seminars. For many years she worked as a master chef and caterer in Zanesville until opening Granny’s Kountry Kitchen in Warsaw.

A member of the St. Nicholas Catholic Church in Zanesville, Marie was a multi-talented lady that shared her abilities by being a 4-H Club advisor. Her many arts and crafts such as Brazilian embroidery, needlepoint, quilting, oil painting and baking received many blue ribbons and awards. Marie had the skill that when she would look at an item, she could then reproduce that item. Her construction and baking a bread dough basket and filling it with hot rolls won her awards at the Ohio State Fair.

Among the many attributes Marie will be remembered for are her collections of dolls, bells, cookbooks, and her love of people, especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Marie was first married to Robert P. Reed on May 30, 1942.  On November 23, 1968, she married Loren Gordon Kelly, who preceded her in death on June 13, 1997.

She truly will be missed by her daughter Connie (David) McCullough of West Lafayette; a son Michael (Mary) Reed of St Petersburg, Fla.; six grandchildren Michelle Stevens of West Lafayette, Don (Lori) Stevens of  Newcomerstown, Elizabeth Reed of St. Petersburg, Fla., Michael (Sheryl) Reed of Pinellas Park, Fla., Angela (Brian) George of Vermillion, OH, Lisa (Russell) Siscar of Olmstead Township, OH; three great-grandsons Ryan Stevens, Levi Reed, Rhys Siscar; and several nieces and nephews.

In addition to her husband and parents, Marie was preceded in death by two brothers Walter and Sylvester Lauvray and a sister Ruth Norris.

Graveside Services and interment will be held at 2:30 P. M., Thursday, June 27, 2013, at South Lawn Cemetery with Don and Lori Stevens officiating.

The family requests memoriums be made to Hospice of Coshocton County, to whom they want to express their sincere appreciation for all their help and loving care given to Marie and her family. Envelopes are available at Free Funeral Home who is assisting the family at this time.
