Maurice L. Sheffield

Maurice L. Sheffield, 94, of Coshocton passed away Wednesday, Dec. 8, 2021, at the Windsorwood Place in Coshocton. He was born on April 14, 1927, to the late Rev. Samuel and Matilda “Tillie” (Smiley) Sheffield.

Maurice graduated from Coshocton High School and went on to serve in the United States Army for more than 20 years before retiring. During his time in the military he served in three separate wars, World War II, the Korean War, and the Vietnam War. After retirement he worked for Coshocton County as a Bridge Inspector and he drove school bus for River View Local School District. He loved riding rodeo bulls and being involved with horse shows along with his wife. Maurice was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church.

He is survived by his daughter Jackie (McKee) Cushman of Coshocton, son Scott Edward McKee of Keene, grandchildren Lana (Kevin) Whaley, Alyssa Haines, Megan McKee, Austin McKee, Tanner McKee, and great grandchildren Knox and Henley Haines; sister Lula Williams; and several nieces and nephews.

Along with his parents he is preceded in death by his wife, Fern Sheffield, who passed away in 2018; brothers Charles, John “Jack”, and William Graham, Samuel Sheffield Jr. and Claude Sheffield; sisters Mary Louise Anderson, Vivian Williams, Mildred Taylor, and Geneva Sheffield.

By Maurice’s request, there will be no calling hours.

A memorial service will be held at the Miller Funeral Home, 639 Main St., Coshocton, Ohio on Wednesday, December 15, 2021 at 11:00am with Deacon Doug Mould officiating. Burial will follow at Coshocton County Memory Gardens. An online memorial is located at www.themillerfuneralhome.com.
