Our Town Stories to discuss local artists

| March 7, 2019

COSHOCTON – Local artists, the next topic for the Johnson-Humrickhouse Museum’s Our Town Stories, will be March 14 at noon. Coshocton has birthed many fine artists and was once known as a mecca for advertising art. Brothers Benton and Matt Clark, whose work donned the pages of The Saturday Evening Post, Cosmopolitan and McCall’s, both had prolific careers in illustration during the earlier part of the 20th century. Another well-known local artist was Vivian Williams. Not only was she an accomplished fine artist with works featured in galleries from Atlanta to New York City, but she also influenced younger generations through her work as a teacher. We invite you to come share your memories with us during this hour-long discussion. Always a great conversation!

JHM’s Our Town Stories gathering occurs monthly on the second Thursday of the month at noon. The conversation animates “the old days” as we conjure up memories, share personal stories, and recall Coshocton County as it once was. All are welcome to participate, whether you grew up in Coshocton or not. The atmosphere is casual and the discussion is always informative, fun and surprising. Admission for the program is free, and beverages and cookies will be provided. Bring your sandwich and make the most of your lunch break.

April’s topic is “Prohibition”. For more information, contact the Johnson-Humrickhouse Museum at 740-622-8710 or jhmuseum@jhmuseum.org. The Johnson-Humrickhouse Museum is located at 300 N. Whitewoman Street, Coshocton. Beginning March 1, the museum is open noon – 4 p.m. Tuesday through Sunday.
