Our Town Stories to focus on sports

| July 3, 2013

COSHOCTON – Sports: Local Teams, Star Players, & Memorabilia is the topic for the Thursday, July 11 Our Town Stories discussion at the Johnson-Humrickhouse Museum.

Do you have a good story, a memory, a favorite athlete or even a folkloric yarn to share? This historically based discussion of sports should be considered broadly to include high school teams (Fresno vs. Coshocton?), people and teams that won state championships, community softball teams and professional athletes that hailed from Coshocton County. The more fun facts, the better. These Our Town Story sessions are being videotaped for posterity. Don’t let our local history be forgotten.

Our Town Stories begins at noon, and all are welcome to attend. JHM’s Our Town Stories meets on the second Thursday of each month to discuss an array of local history topics. The atmosphere is casual and the discussion is always informative, fun and surprising. Free beverages and cookies will be provided, and admission for the program is free. August’s topic will be Ice, ice cream—homemade and purchased, sodas and soft drinks, including the shops where you could purchase them.

For information, contact the Johnson-Humrickhouse Museum at 622-8710 or [email protected]. The Johnson-Humrickhouse Museum is located at 300 N. Whitewoman St. Museum hours are noon to 5 p.m. daily.
